Rappahannock beats Lancaster, 55-33, in girls’ season finale

Rappahannock used a 37-point second half to pull away and upset Northern Neck District leader Lancaster in a varsity girls basketball game last Tuesday.

Brianna Rich scored 10 points to spark a 22-point fourth quarter for the Raiderettes, who handed Lancaster its first district loss, 55-33. The Lady Devils finished at 17-4 overall and 9-1 in the district after routing Essex, 82-20, last Friday in the regular season ender.

Lancaster entered the district tournament this week in first place and was scheduled to play fourth-place Northumberland (6-14). Second-place Rappahannock (15-6) played third-place Colonial Beach (10-12). The winners will meet tomorrow, February 21, at 6 p.m. at Lancaster High School in the tournament championship.
