Rebecca Nunn of Kilmarnock has returned from the three-day Ms Senior Earth Pageant in Branson, Mo., where she was crowned Ms Senior Earth 80TYS.

She also won the People’s Choice Award with 600 votes.

On May 30, Nunn was named a national finalist and then went on to compete against the other finalists, she said. On June 1, she was interviewed by three separate judges and then danced in an opening number with all of the contestants after which she modeled her costume representing the State of Virginia.

Next she performed her talent. She recited a poem entitled “Look at Me” which was found in the nightstand drawer of a nursing home after the inhabitant passed away. Outfit of choice was the next category and Nunn chose to wear a majorette costume and twirl baton—she has been twirling since she was 7 and taught baton when she was a teenager. Last she competed in evening gown and wore a Jovani gown trimmed in mink.

Nunn, who is 80, competed against other contestants in their “80tys.” She is a member of the Kilmarnock Town Council.

Nunn will promote the pageant through the coming year and travel to do so. She will crown her successor next year when the international pageant for women, 50 and over, will be held in Memphis, Tenn.
