Red Devils upend Raiders 84-32

The varsity Red Devils are dominating opponents early in Northern Neck District play with junior Troy Henderson adding a record-breaking performance to Lancaster’s 84-32 win over Rappahannock on January 17. 

Henderson scored 34 points and in doing so broke Lancaster’s all-time leading scorer record with 1,453 points in his two-and-a-half years with the varsity team. The Devils planned a home celebration to honor Henderson this week. 

Henderson scored 12 of Lancaster’s 29 points in the first quarter when the Devils jumped to a 23-point lead. The host Raiders were held to three field goals in the opening quarter and to two in the second when LHS blew the game open for a 49-10 lead. 

Henderson did the bulk of his work in the first half with 22 points. He led two double-digit scorers and nine different scorers for LHS. Daveon Smith spread out 16 and Kevontrez Bunns scored all of his nine in the first half. Nytrell Ball scored 10 points to lead Rappahannock. 

Second loss

The Devils suffered their second loss of the season on January 20 when private school Peninsula Catholic beat Lancaster, 60-47, in a showcase at Green Run….
