The Reedville Festival Chorale, under the direction of Sharon Freude, will present “A Joyful Celebration!” at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 454 Main Street, Reedville.
The chorale invites everyone to join them to celebrate America’s birthday in song, reported Jeanne Hickey.
The tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence.
From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with festivities ranging from fireworks, parades, family gatherings and concerts.
This year, festivities in Reedville are extended by several days so, after enjoying the whirlwind of other activities, a small-town Sunday afternoon concert is a refreshment most needed, said Hickey.
The performance will include rousing patriotic songs….
