Region 1A girls hoop tourney to wrap up Saturday

The Lancaster girls basketball team ended its season with close back-to-back losses to Northern Neck District opponents last week to finish the year in ninth place in the region. The top eight teams advanced to the Region 1A tournament, which was scheduled to start this week with the championship scheduled for Saturday, February 28, at the higher seed.

Rappahannock edged Lancaster, 29-25, on Tuesday, February 17, and Westmoreland defeated the Lady Devils by five points, 26-21, on Wednesday, February 18. Lancaster’s two wins this season actually came over the Raiders and Eagles back in January.

In the season-ender at LHS, Westmoreland started to pull away in the third, breaking an 11-11 halftime tie with….
