On July 2, Bethany United Methodist Church in Reedville will welcome the Rev. Derek Tomek to its pulpit as its new pastor. Rev. Tomek is a licensed pastor working toward elder. His theological education includes 30 hours of seminary work at Wesley Theological Seminary.
Pastor Derek has 10 years of pastoral ministry and is currently serving a two-church charge in the Eastern Shore of Virginia, reported Bill Embrey, staff parish chairman. His passions are adult groups, building relationships, missions and serving under-privileged persons.
He is a single parent with sole custody of his 15-year-old son, Hunter, said Embrey. He will be married to his fiancée, Mary, prior to his move to Reedville on June 28.
A reception to welcome pastor Tomek and his family will be held at the church July 2 following the 9:30 a.m. service. Everyone is welcome.
