Rhythm in Blue to give jazz concert in Irvington August 30

Rhythm in Blue, the jazz ensemble of the USAF Heritage of America Band, will give a free concert at 6:30 p.m. August 30 at the Irvington Commons, 98 King Carter Drive, Irvington.

Big band jazz will be performed by Rhythm in Blue.

The 15-member group of enlisted professional musicians will perform a range of big band swing, jazz standards and contemporary music. The concert will be presented by the Irvington Village Improvement Association (VIA).

Concertgoers are urged to bring lawn chairs and picnics and set up early. Chesapeake Bank will provide free hot dogs, chips and soft drinks beginning at 5:30 p.m.

“We’re delighted to have Rhythm in Blue again on Labor Day weekend performing its unique combination of swinging jazz and uplifting patriotism,” said VIA president Steve Kimmeth. “The upcoming concert will mark the jazz ensemble’s fourth performance in Irvington.”
