Ribbon cutting ceremonies held at Bay Transit shelters on RCC’s main campuses

Bay Transit, a division of Bay Aging, and Rappahannock Community College (RCC) held concurrent ribbon cutting ceremonies at the RCC Warsaw and Glenns campuses on Wednesday, November 6, to celebrate the installation of new Bay Transit bus shelters at the college’s two main campuses.

The media, students, RCC and RCC Educational Foundation board members, Bay Aging staff and board members, and local officials enjoyed remarks and an important announcement from RCC president Dr. Shannon Kennedy.

Maxine Ball, RCC’s board member representing Richmond County, and Kathy Vesley, Bay Aging’s president and chief executive officer also took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Dr. Kennedy welcomed the new bus shelters as a valuable service for RCC students, faculty and staff.

“Last year more than 2,200 rides on Bay Transit originated from, or were destined to RCC’s campuses in Warsaw, Glenns and Kilmarnock. We are excited to have the new shelters in place so that students, faculty and staff waiting on the bus are protected from the elements,” said Dr. Kennedy. “We recognize how important access to education is for the economic development of our region.”
