Family, coaches and school administrators recently gathered to celebrate the successes of the Lancaster High School 2022-23 boys track and field team.
Scoring 80.5 points and producing three individual champions, including one new state record holder, the boys team was crowned the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 1 state champion in June 2023. On January 8, team members received some more bling during a state ring ceremony.
Under the leadership of head coach Draper Washington and assistants James Timm, Markus Ferguson, Tyrell Henderson and girls head coach Joanne Webb-Fary, the team claimed its second state crown in four years of state meets. There was no meet in 2020.
