Robert A. “Bob” Hardesty

IRVINGTON—Robert A. “Bob” Hardesty of Irvington passed away December 28. He was born February 2, 1936.

Hardesty was married to Ann Engelhard Hardesty and is survived by their two children, Shelly Edwards and David Hardesty; and six grandchildren, Miranda Edwards, Austin Edwards, Morgan Price, Hallie Marchigiani, Ashton Hardesty and Savanna Hardesty. He also was married to Barbara Hazelwood Hardesty.

He was predeceased by his mother, Vada C. Hardesty and Floyd S. Hardesty of Manassas.

He served in the U.S. Army and earned a bachelor’s and master’s in business administration from Virginia Tech. He worked for Piedmont Aviation for 25 years in Norfolk and more recently worked 11-and-a-half years as zoning administrator for the town of Irvington.

Hardesty was involved with the Rotary Club, town council, Irvington Village Improvement Association and Lancaster Players. He also enjoyed flying airplanes and sailing the Noreine.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 27, at Irvington United Methodist Church, 26 King Carter Drive, Irvington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the American Cancer Society.
