BURGESS—Robert Carson “Bobo” Dalzell Jr. of Burgess passed away on December 26, 2020. He was 87.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia; son, Rob of Charlotte, N.C.; daughter, Mary Ann of Alexandria; daughter, Sally of Baltimore, Md.; and four grandchildren, Madeline, Bobby, Sam and Olivia.
He was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Ann.
Bob was born to Margaret Clara and Robert Carson Dalzell in Baltimore, on April 11, 1933. His father was an engineer and worked with the Manhattan Project and, later, for peaceful uses of atomic energy.
Bob lived a good life—he was an Eagle Scout, a guide at Philmont Scout Ranch, a retired major in the Air Force, a SCUBA diver, a sailor and nutshell pram racer, and a devoted husband. He worked many years helping Santa Claus, and also loved a good grilled cheese sandwich.
Bob and his wife Pat traveled far, treated people kindly and sailed on mostly calm waters. He was a gentleman and always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He will be remembered for his fearlessness and his sense of humor, as well as his distinctive turns of phrase and the endless wellspring of stories he loved to tell.
Bob and Pat retired to the Northern Neck in 1995 and remained there overlooking the Great Wicomico ever since. Bob was a member of the Light of Christ Anglican Church in Heathsville.
