EUREKA SPRINGS, AR—Roberta Brent Peek died peacefully in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, after a lengthy illness. She was born and raised in Richmond, the daughter of Andrew Jackson Brent and Virginia McGuire Brent.
Roberta, affectionately known as Bertsie, graduated from The Collegiate School for Girls in1963 and then attended Mary Baldwin College. She graduated from Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University) with a bachelor of science in social work. She later earned a master of science in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Roberta was a devoted and kind mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Her interest in social work reflected her tender heart for anyone in need. She was also an avid reader and gardener and she had a mischievous sense of humor.
She is survived by her sons, Jacob Peek of Jacksonville, Florida, and Ashley Peek (Ranu) of Bucharest, Romania; as well as her daughter, Margaret Peek (Jamie Guest) of Eureka Springs; her grandchildren, Mercer Peek Parmenter, Hardt Peek, Violet Peek and Max Guest. She is also survived by her brother, A. Mason Brent; and her sisters, Virginia Brent Evans, Marshall Brent Waterman (Bob) and Maria Brent Jones (Brad). In addition, she is survived by the father of her children, Leon Ashley Peek of Denton, Texas.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew J. and Virginia M. Brent.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 13, at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.
