RRYC holds gusty Spring Regatta

With winds 18 knots sustained, gusting to 25 knots and three-foot waves, seven racers from Rappahannock River Yacht Club (RRYC) and one from Yankee Point Racing and Cruising Club (YPRCC) headed out on the Rappahannock River Saturday morning for the annual RRYC Spring Regatta.

Fortunately for the racers, the race committee, with principal race officer Brian McCauley, his wife, Tami, recorder and scorer, Kevin Stepko and Sue Kirkbride on the signal boat and Greg Kirkbride and Fred Pevahouse on the mark boat, were up to the challenge of setting up the race course and getting the races completed in what for the first few hours were very difficult conditions, reported Tom Chapman. Typhoon skipper Danielle Kuper praised the committee….
