
The Rappahannock River Yacht Club (RRYC) on Saturday, September 10, successfully defended its hold on the Rappahannock Cup against Yankee Point Racing Cruising Club (YPRCC).
With seven boats, the RRYC had a decided advantage versus the three-boat fleet of YPRCC based on the Cup format taking the top four finishers in each race and totaling the points, reported Tom Chapman.
More interesting than the results was great individual racing in the 11-boat fleet which included one non-affiliated boat, said Chapman. The weather was perfect with winds on the Rappahannock River in the 7-14 knot range generally from the East, requiring constant sail trim adjustments.
Giving the sailors an extra challenge, the wind also oscillated….
