KILMARNOCK—Ruth Ann Adkins, 69, of Kilmarnock, passed away April 11, 2022.
She was born in Marion to Henry and Lola Combs on September 25, 1952. She married Curtis C. Adkins on June 4, 1969, until he went to be with our Lord and Savior in February 2018.
She is survived by three brothers, Robert E. Combs (Debbie), Henry P. Combs Jr. and Richard “Dickie” W. Combs (Starla), all from Marion; two sisters, Mary E. Norman (Roger) of Marion and Kimberly Atwell of Rural Retreat; daughter, Tammy Singleton (Anthony) of Kilmarnock; and grandsons, Matthew Craighead (Gabrielle) of Roanoke and Timothy Craighead Jr. of Roanoke.
She loved to teach children and she loved to sing for the Lord and the children. She also loved shopping, especially at Goodwill, Dollar Tree and Walmart. Ruth was a pastor’s wife and a teacher. She met Curtis when she was 15 and married him shortly thereafter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14, at New Hope Baptist Church, Lottsburg. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Moores Memorial Cemetery, Amelia.
