KILMARNOCK—Ruth Louise “Lou Lou” Taft Brocklebank passed away Monday, September 9, 2024 at the age of 82. Louise was born on August 6, 1942, to Lawrence Hugh Taft Sr. and Margaret Rachel Revere Taft.
Louise loved to cook. Most of what she cooked she gave away to family and friends. Louise was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed sewing for people in the community.
She worked at The Gangplank Restaurant, Tides Lodge, Tides Inn, Hope and Glory and also helped River Market with catering dinner parties and special events. Lou Lou also had a soft spot in her heart for animals and did a great deal of pet setting.
Due to some health problems, Louise was at the Lancashire Nursing Home for the last seven years. She was a kind beautiful soul and will greatly be missed, she was loved by everyone.
Louise is survived by her siblings, Lawrence Taft Jr. (Joyce); Sandra Kellum (Warren), Paige Bedell (Mike) and Tony Taft (Kathy); and nieces and nephews.
Louise was preceded in death by her son, Allen Brocklebank; parents, Lawrence and Rachel Taft; and her brother, Eugene Taft.
There will be a celebration of her life at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 6, at the White Stone Volunteer Fire Department, 579 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone.
