Lancaster had one player named to the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 1 all-state softball team.
Senior outfielder Ayla Saunders, who had 23 RBI with 35 runs scored during the regular season and led the Lady Devils with 21 stolen bases, was named to the all-state second team and was one of only five Northern Neck District players receiving all-state status. En route to her state honor, Saunders was named to both the Northern Neck District and Region 1A first teams.
Four players from Rappahannock were named to the all-state team released by VHSL on June 22.
Lancaster advanced to the state tournament for the first time in 24 years and finished as a Class 1 quarterfinalist after losing, 7-2, to Buffalo Gap.
Rappahannock, which lost, 4-3, to Auburn in the state semifinals, named sophomore pitcher Avery Brann and senior shortstop Kayler Goodman to the state’s first team and junior first baseman Lauren Johnson and senior outfielder Kelsie Rogers to the second team.
