Seahorses soccer opens with a win

The Christchurch School boys varsity soccer team recently opened the season with a 5-0 win over Stonebridge School in Chesapeake.

Head coach Matt Schaefer is assisted by Pete Goodrich and Christchurch School alumnus Patrick Murphy, reported communications associate Jennifer Homer.

Among season highlights, Christchurch School on October 12 will host Norfolk Christian School in the Jason Soucek Memorial Classic Game to be played in memory of Middlesex County resident Jason Carpenter Soucek, Class 1992, the son of Archie Souck, Class of 1961, and Claudia Soucek of Saluda.

Soucek died in 1996, while a student at Roanoke College. At Christchurch, he was a standout soccer, basketball and lacrosse player, earning “Best All-Around Athlete” honors in 1992. The game will take place on Nunn Field.
