Nick Nonnemacker humbly shrugs off the term hero.
His was a fairly simple, yet selfless act, that saved the life of a total stranger.
“I would have done this for anyone,” said Nick, 23, of Richmond. “When you think of saving someone’s life, you think I’m never going to do something like that. It’s not like I was running into a burning building. It was something so simple that I could do. It’s amazing we have the technology to save a life by doing something that seems so simple.”
A little over a year-and-a-half after Nick’s selfless act, he met Dave Ream of Ohio for dinner in Richmond. The two men are forever linked by a bone marrow transplant.
