Sentencing closes book on domestic violence case but work continues for many others

Judge R. Michael McKenney on Friday, October 21, sentenced Markus K. Smith of Farnham to an active sentence of eight years for the abduction and malicious wounding of Lisa (Jackson) Rose, also of Farnham.

In August, a jury found Smith guilty after hearing testimony from Rose that on August 16, 2020, Smith dragged her by her hair out of a room at the Whispering Pines Motel in White Stone, and into his waiting car, all while beating her in the process. Rose said he continued to hit her as he drove to her Farnham home, which she had shared with Smith for the past four….
