Sheriff’s Report 01-07-21

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie, for December 21, 2020, through January 3, 2021, reported charges against five individuals.

Felonies

Jonta Artyne Towles, 25, of Reedville was charged December 21 with two counts of attempting to kill/murder a juvenile, two counts of attempting to kill/murder an adult, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and shooting or throwing a missile at a vehicle with malice.

William Morris Noel, 35, of Lancaster was charged December 21 with possessing a Schedule I or II drug.

Brian Chandler Luckham, 33, of Kilmarnock, was charged December 28 with assaulting a police officer, stealing goods or merchandise after having been previously convicted of larceny two or more times; and entering a property for purpose of damaging it or the contents.

Misdemeanors

A Kilmarnock man, (no age given) was charged December 23 with threatening an illegal act with the intent to coerce, intimidate or harass a person over the telephone.

A Lancaster woman, 51, was charged December 31 with appearing intoxicated in public.

Activity report

December 21: Staff responded to the 7700 block of River Road for a person pointing a gun at passing vehicles, to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for a verbal dispute, to Millenbeck Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 200 block of Wiggins Avenue to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with threats made to harm another, and to the 10400 block of Mary Ball Road for obtaining money by false pretenses.

December 22: Staff responded to the 100 block of Tammy Drive for illegal fireworks, to the 100 block of East Senora Road for a burglary and theft of a Richardson .410 shotgun and a Stevens .22 caliber rifle, and to the 100 block of Sandlin Drive for a possible burglary after the resident found an open door.

December 23: Staff responded to Lumberlost Road for hunting violations, to the 1800 block of Iberis Road for hunting violations and trespassing, to the 500 block of Irvington Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 900 block of Senora Road to assist emergency medical services (EMS) with CPR, and to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with several people loitering.

December 24: Staff responded to the 2700 block of Mary Ball Road to assist Virginia State Police (VSP) with a person possibly under the influence of alcohol, to the 200 block of Shady Lane for suspicious activity, to Alphonso Road for a reckless driver, to several locations in the county for standing water in the roadway from flooding, and to Campbell and Goodluck roads for multiple gunshots.

December 25: Staff responded to the 500 block of Yankee Point Road for a power outage from trees on the powerlines, to the 100 block of Tides Lane for vandalism of a vehicle, to Gunther Lane and Weems Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 4600 block of Morattico Road for threats made to destroy another’s property.

December 26: Staff responded to the North Main and Church streets to assist KPD with a disorderly person, to the 1300 block of Iberis Road for multiple gunshots in the area after dark, to the 1400 block of Shore Drive for a possible overdose of narcotics, and to the 100 block of Sandlin Drive for a domestic disturbance involving alcohol.

December 27: Staff responded to the 100 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with a stolen vehicle.

December 28: Staff responded to the 5100 block of Windmill Point Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 500 block of Lancaster Creek Drive for a domestic disturbance, to Chesapeake Drive and Rose Lane for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of The Green for a possible overdose of narcotics, and to a walk-in report of vandalism and violation of a protective order that occurred in the 300 block of Callis Road.

December 29: Staff responded to the 200 block of Carters Cove Drive to check the welfare of a resident, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for construction materials in the roadway, to the 500 block of Mosquito Point Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash versus a utility pole, and to Mary Ball Road and Rivers Landing for a two-vehicle traffic crash.

December 30: Staff responded to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for shoplifting, to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for threats made to harm another, to the 8800 block of Mary Ball Road to assist VSP with a traffic stop, to the 100 block of Richtown Road for possible vandalism, to the 100 block of Rose Drive for a possible suicidal person, to the 8200 block of Mary Ball Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 4100 block of Windmill Point Road for threats made to harm another, to the 500 block of Riverside Drive to check the welfare of a resident, and to the 400 block of Old Orchard Road for a possible suicidal person.

December 31: Staff responded to the 200 block of Old Fairgrounds Way for a suspicious person entering a closed business, to Hills Quarters for hunting violations, to Chases and Poplar Neck roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to Blueberry Point Road for gunshots in the late evening hours, and to the 600 block of Ottoman Ferry Road for gunshots.

January 1: Staff responded to the 4300 block of Morattico Road for a domestic disturbance involving a juvenile, to the 300 block of Fleets Bay Road for an assault that occurred in the 100 block of Windmill Point Road, to the 100 block of Twin Branch Road for possible juvenile neglect, to the 500 block of Beach Road for a wanted person, and to the 8000 block of River Road for a downed tree covering the entire roadway.

January 2: Staff responded to the 300 block of Campbell Road for a missing juvenile, to Morattico and Norwood Church roads for a suspicious vehicle, and to the 500 block of Glebe Road for gunshots in the evening hours.

January 3: Staff responded to the 3600 block of Windmill Point Road for a sudden death, to the 100 block of Reynolds Farm Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 500 block of Lara Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Entertainment Drive for larceny of vehicle tags and front grill, and to the 200 block of Old Fairgrounds Way to assist KPD with a trespasser.

Staff also conducted 29 traffic stops, issued 18 summonses, assisted seven motorists, recorded eight deer strike accidents, handled two calls for traffic control, investigated nine building alarms, logged four inmate transports, received 58 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fired Department established a landing zone for EMS on Senora Road, responded to a traffic crash on Mary Ball Road, and responded with Kilmarnock VFD to a structure fire on Nuttsville Road.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded to separate traffic crashes on Jessie duPont Memorial Highway and Gunther Lane.

White Stone VFD responded to separate traffic crashes on Mosquito Point Road and at Mary Ball Road and Rivers Landing.
