Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against five individuals.
Felony
Shannon Ann Matthews, 51, of Kilmarnock was charged February 24 with driving while intoxicated (DWI) with a BAC between .15-20%, third offense within 10 years; and issued a summons for failure to drive as practicable entirely within a single lane or move from a single lane before having ascertained that such movement could be made safely.
Misdemeanors
A Weems woman, 19, was charged February 23 with failure to enroll in the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program on the underlying charge of DWI, first offense.
A Heathsville man, 28, was charged February 25 with DWI, first offense, and issued a summons for driving a motor vehicle on the highway at a speed of 53 miles per hour which was in excess of the applicable maximum speed limit of 35 miles per hour.
An Alexandria woman, 28, was charged February 27 with failure to appear in court on January 20.
A Lancaster woman, 35, was charged February 28 with DWI, refusal to submit breath or blood for chemical test, driving a motor vehicle while driver’s license is suspended or revoked, and knowingly obstructing a law enforcement officer in the performance of duties such as failing or refusing to cease such obstruction without just cause when requested to do so.

February 24: Staff responded to the 900 block of Old Saint Johns Road for gunshots, to the 100 block of Old Mill Cove Road for larceny, to the 700 block of Rappahannock Drive for fraud, to the 1500 block of Avis Trail for a verbal dispute, to the 200 block of Antirap Drive for a suspicious person, and to the 40 block of Fiddler Crab Lane for larceny.
February 25: Staff responded to Mary Ball and James Wharf roads for a downed tree, to Goodluck and Mary Ball roads for a vehicle striking a pedestrian, and to Black Stump Road and James B. Jones Memorial Highway for a disabled vehicle.
February 26: Staff responded to the 60 block of Hazel Lane for an assault, to the 100 block of Steamboat Road for a suspicious person, and to the 900 block of Rappahannock Drive for a potential scam.
February 27: Staff responded to the 20 block of Thrasher Court for an assault, and to the 300 block of North Main Street for suspicious activity.
February 28: Staff responded to the 100 block of Reynolds Farm Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for a scam, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for identity theft, to Mary Ball and Courthouse roads for a disabled vehicle, and to the 100 block of First Street for a verbal dispute.
March 1: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for legal advice, and to the 900 block of Chesapeake Drive for destruction of property.
Staff also conducted 21 traffic stops, issued 10 summonses, assisted three motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled a request for traffic control, investigated three building alarms, logged an inmate transport, and received 10 E911 hang up calls.
Fire Calls
Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a utility line fire on Prentice Creek Road, a propane leak on Roseneath Avenue and with Upper Lancaster VFD to a brush fire on River Road.
Upper Lancaster VFD also responded to a separate brush fire on River and Morattico roads.
White Stone VFD responded to a traffic crash at Chesapeake and Rappahannock drives.
