Sheriff’s Report 03-19-20

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges four against individuals.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster woman, 22, was charged March 11 with driving without a license.

A White Stone man, 35, was charged March 12 with trespassing on property where signs were posted and four counts of willfully or maliciously interfering with or preventing the running or operation of an automobile.

A Kilmarnock man, 24, was charged March 12 with substituting a sample for a drug/alcohol screening.

Activity report

March 9: Staff responded to Cherry Point Drive for a reckless driver, to the 200 block of Smith Lane for a stolen air tank, and to Weems Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash involving a deer.

March 10: Staff responded to the 100 block of School Street to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance, to a walk-in report of a civil issue involving an automobile and to Old Orchard Road for a stolen license plate.

March 11: Staff responded to the 900 block of Ocran Road to check the welfare of a resident after being alerted by a neighbor, and to a walk-in report of vandalism and trespass.

March 12: Staff responded to a walk-in report of a civil issue involving the lease of equipment, to the 600 block of Cedar Pointe Drive for a dementia patient out in a wooded area, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the roadway, to the 100 block of Washington Street for vandalism to a building, to the 2800 block of Merry Point area for the reckless use of a firearm, to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with a fight in progress, to the 100 block of Harris Road for a domestic assault, to the 100 block of Sandy Lane for a verbal dispute about a domestic animal, to the 100 block of Greenwood Court for a verbal disagreement, and to White Stone for a reckless driver.

March 13: Staff responded to the 1300 block of Weems Road for gunshots, to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for a domestic dispute, to the 500 block of Chesapeake Drive for four wheelers on the highway and sidewalks, and to the 1300 block of Weems Road for a suspicious person.

March 14: Staff responded to the 100 block of Waverly Avenue to assist KPD with the report of a domestic disturbance involving alcohol.

March 15: Staff responded to the 300 block of Twin Branch Road to assist emergency medical services (EMS) with a medical patient involving a large crowd.

Staff also conducted 17 traffic stops, issued seven summonses, assisted five motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, handled five calls for traffic control, investigated eight building alarms, logged three inmate transports, received nine E911 hang-up calls, and handled three calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on old Fairgrounds Way, a brush fire at Mary Ball and Harris roads and a fire/smoke alarm on School Street.

The White Stone VFD responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on James Wharf Road.

EMS calls

For March 8-14, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 27 calls, including 17 medical emergencies, two injuries, a traffic accident, a fire and six other calls.
