Sheriff’s Report 03-25-21

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against four individuals.

A Lancaster man, 36, was charged March 16 with attempting to defeat a drug or alcohol screening test by the substitution of a sample.

A Lancaster man, 31, was charged March 19 with contempt of court, failure to appear and revocation of a pretrial release on a felony offense.

A Lancaster man, 33, was charged March 19 with violating a family abuse protective order within five years of a prior conviction.

An Irvington man, 31, was charged March 19 with appearing intoxicated in public.

Activity report

March 15: Staff responded to the 300 block of Flowering Field to check the welfare of a resident, to the 100 block of Harris Road for a combative person, to the 100 block of Hatton Avenue to assist Kilmarnock Police Department with a trespasser, and to the 400 block Lancaster Creek Drive for a domestic verbal disagreement.

March 16: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for the report of debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 8500 block of River Road for a civil issue that involved the retrieval of property, and to the 100 block of Edgewood Lane for a noise violation from loud music.

March 17: Staff responded to Shalem Place and Buzzards Neck Road for a vehicle pursuit after a shooting incident in Northumberland County, to the 2100 block of Morattico Road for damage to a mailbox, and to the 200 block of Buzzards Neck Road for a person with mental issues.

March 18: Staff responded to the 100 block of Wesley Terrace for threats made to harm another, to the 100 block of Edgewood Lane for a noise violation from loud music, and to the 300 block of Yankee Point Road for a verbal disagreement.

March 19: Staff responded to North Main Street for a suspicious vehicle, to the 10600 block of Mary Ball Road for obtaining money by false pretense, and to the 100 block of The Pony Pasture for a domestic disturbance that involved alcohol.

March 20: Staff responded to the 5600 block of Irvington Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 800 block of Taylors Creek Road for a verbal disagreement involving alcohol, to the Norris Bridge for the report of debris on the roadway, to Bluff Road to assist Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office with a single-vehicle traffic crash with an entrapment, to the 100 block of Greentown Road for trespassing, and to Kamps Mill and Mary Ball roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

March 21: Staff responded to the 300 block of Gaskins Road to deliver a death notification after receiving a report from Richmond City Police, to the 100 block of Entertainment Drive for a crowd acting disorderly, to the 300 block of Chesapeake Drive for a suicidal person, and to Regina and Mary Ball roads to assist Virginia State Police with a wanted person.

Staff also conducted 13 traffic stops, issued three summonses, recorded three deer strike accidents, handled five calls for traffic control, investigated three building alarms, logged three inmate transports, received 25 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded three calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a compactor fire on White Pine Drive, an emergency medical services lift assistance request on Hardings Wharf Road, a traffic crash on Bluff Point Road and with White Stone VFD to a structure fire on Greentown Road.

Upper Lancaster VFD and Kilmarnock VFD responded to a brush fire on Morattico Road.
