Sheriff’s Report 03-28-24

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against two individuals.

Felony

Ryan Taylor Brooks, 39, of Tappahannock was charged March 22 with failure to appear in the Lancaster County Circuit Court on the underlying charge of issuing bad check over $1,000 or more.

Misdemeanor

An Irvington man, 21, was charged March 24 with failure to obey an order from the Lancaster County General District Court, ordering enrollment and successful completion of the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program.

Activity report

March 18: Staff responded to the 4000 block of Mosquito Point Road for a scam, to the 800 block of Middle Gate Lane for a scam and to the 1300 block of Gaskins Road for suspicious activity.

March 19: Staff responded to Sandlin Drive for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 70 block of Peake Road for a verbal dispute and to the 11000 block of Mary Ball Road for an adult welfare check.

March 20: Staff responded to the 100 block of First Street for verbal threats and to the 60 block of Oak Leaf Road for threats through electronic communications.

March 21: Staff responded to the 70 block of Ashley Cove Lane for suspicious activity, to the 400 block of Johns Neck Road for destruction of property and to the 4000 block of Windmill Point Road for trespassing.

March 22: Staff responded to the 100 block of Beach Cove Drive for a domestic assault, to the 3000 block of Irvington Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Towles Point Road for a road hazard, to the 400 block of Greentown Road for a suspicious person and to the 200 block of Regina Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash.

March 23: Staff responded to the 40 block of Ottoman Ferry Road for suspicious activity, to Mary Ball and Ocran roads for a traffic complaint, to Mary Ball and Goodluck roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Riverwood Drive for a downed tree blocking the roadway, to the 200 block of Weems Road for legal advice and to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the roadway.

March 24: Staff responded to the 1500 block of Carlson Road for legal advice.

March 25: Staff responded to the 100 block of Kathy Drive for an adult welfare check and to the 800 block of Rappahannock Drive for a domestic disturbance.

Staff also conducted 15 traffic stops, issued 10 summonses, assisted a motorist, recorded six deer strike accidents, handled two calls for traffic control, investigated six building alarms, logged four inmate transports, received 23 E911 hang up calls and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Upper Lancaster and Kilmarnock volunteer fire departments responded to a brush fire at Mary Ball Road and Avis Trail.

The Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a fire alarm at 200 Old Fair Grounds Way and a brush fire at Jessie duPont Memorial Highway and Ditchley Road.

The White Stone VFD responded to a fire alarm at 65 Tavern Road.
