Sheriff’s Report 03-31-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against two individuals.

A Lancaster man, 36, was charged March 22 with embezzlement of funds/goods valued at under $1,000.

A Lancaster man, 31, was charged March 25 with a probation violation on a misdemeanor offense.

Activity report

March 21: Staff responded to the 100 block of Tartan Village Drive for the theft of a boat trailer license plate, to Chases Road to assist Virginia State Police (VSP) with a traffic stop, and to the 4200 block of Morattico Road for a domestic disturbance.

March 22: Staff responded to Oyster Point Road for a noise violation from loud music, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a suspicious person, to Lancaster Courthouse for an infant not secured in a car seat, to Browns Store and Beanes Roads to assist Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office with a foot pursuit of a wanted person, to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road to assist emergency medical services, to threats to harm another in the 100 block of Rappahannock Drive, to Washington Street for a tractor trailer parked in the roadway, and to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for gunshots in the late evening hours.

March 23: Staff responded to the 200 block of Newtown Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 11600 block of Courthouse Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 500 block of Wilson Lane for a person with an altered mental status, and to the 100 block of Harris Road for a disorderly person.

March 24: Staff responded to a walk-in report of a larceny in the 100 block of White Fences Drive.

March 25: Staff responded to the 100 block of Entertainment Drive for disorderly juveniles, and to the 500 block of Rappahannock Drive to assist VSP with a wanted person.

March 26: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Boys Camp roads for an abandoned vehicle, to Black Stump Road for a reckless driver, and to the 10900 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for a single-vehicle traffic crash with serious injuries.

March 27: Staff responded to Mary Ball Road and Hickory Hill Lane for a trespasser, to Wiggins Avenue to assist Kilmarnock Police Department with a verbal dispute, and to the 5300 block of Morattico Road for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard.

Staff also conducted 38 traffic stops, issued 22 summonses, assisted two motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled six calls for traffic control, investigated a building alarm, processed a mental health order, logged an inmate transport, received 28 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a brush fire on Mary Ball Road and a lawn mower fire on Hudgins Lane.

Kilmarnock VFD responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Mercers Way and a brush fire at Lumberlost and Black Stump roads.

White Stone VFD responded to the smell of propane on Irvington Road.
