Sheriff’s Report 04-09-20

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felony

Molly Jean Kane, 39, of Lancaster was charged March 17 with distribution of cocaine, a Schedule I/II narcotic.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster man, 34, was charged March 31 with a probation violation.

A Lancaster man, 20, was charged April 2 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Weems man, 52, was charged April 4 with cruelty to animals, generally.

Activity report

March 30: Staff responded to the 500 block of Bay Water Drive for a domestic disturbance, to the 500 block of Lara Road to check the welfare of two juveniles after being alerted by a family member, to the 2000 block of Mosquito Point Road for reckless use of a firearm, and to the 400 block of Lara Road to check the welfare of the resident after being alerted by a neighbor.

March 31: Staff responded to a walk-in report of obtaining funds by false pretenses, to Jesse duPont Memorial Highway for a reckless driver, and to the 100 block of Kathy Drive for a domestic assault.

April 1: Staff responded to the 11100 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 2300 block of Ocran Road for a possible domestic disturbance, and to the 8300 block of Mary Ball Road to assist with traffic control at a structure fire.

April 2: Staff responded to the 500 block of North Main Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with the report of a trespasser, to the 500 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with a disorderly person, to the 2000 block of Ocran Road to check the welfare of a dementia patient, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a traffic crash involving an overturned van, and to Oak Hill Road for the report of a suspicious person.

April 3: Staff responded to the 100 block of Cherry Hill Road for a trespasser, to the 1800 block of Ocran Road to check the welfare of a dementia patient and to the 500 block of Southport Lane to assist KPD with a juvenile trespasser.

April 4: Staff responded to the 500 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with a trespasser, to the 100 block of Yorkshire Street for a domestic issue, to Mosquito Point Road for a juvenile on a golf cart in the roadway, to the 800 block of Rappahannock Drive for a suspicious person, and to the 1700 block of Old Orchard Road to assist Virginia State Police with a search of a stopped vehicle.

April 5: Staff responded to the 100 block of Brent Court for shooting into an occupied dwelling, to the 100 block of British Landing Drive to check the welfare of a dementia patient, to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for a fight in progress with minor injuries, to the 200 block of Merry Point Road to check the welfare of the resident after being alerted by a family member, and to the 100 block of Oak Leaf Road for the reckless use of a firearm.

Staff also conducted five traffic stops, investigated two building alarms, logged an inmate transport, received eight E911 hang-up calls, and handled two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a lift assistance request on Washington Street.

Kilmarnock VFD responded to a traffic crash on Mary Ball Road and an illegal burn on Ditchely Road.

Upper Lancaster, Kilmarnock and White Stone VFDs responded to a structure fire on Mary Ball Road.

EMS calls

For March 29-April 4, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 26 calls, including 13 medical emergencies, three injuries, two traffic accidents, two fires and six other calls.
