Sheriff’s Report 05-26-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against two individuals.

A Newport News woman, 22, was charged May 16 with appearing intoxicated in public.

A Warsaw man, 69, was charged May 22 with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep to the right of the marked lane of travel.

Activity report

May 16: Staff responded to Crab Point Road and Dandelion Drive for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

May 17: Staff responded to the Hughlett Point Natural Area Preserve to assist Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) with the report of a person sinking in quicksand near the beach, to a walk-in report of an aggravated assault that occurred in the 1800 block of Windmill Point Road, to Whites Lane for a suspicious vehicle, to the 200 block of Irvington Road for suspicious activity, and to the 300 block of Callis Road for a noise violation from loud music.

May 18: Staff responded to Lancaster Courthouse for a reckless driver, to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for the larceny of lottery tickets, and to the report of a scam that occurred at the 100 block of Lancaster Drive.

May 19: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for the report of a disabled vehicle in the roadway, and to White Chapel and River roads for the report of a verbal disagreement.

May 20: Staff responded to the 500 block of Irvington Road for a combative emergency medical services (EMS) patient, to the 400 block of Chesapeake Drive to check the welfare of a resident, and to the 1100 block of Old Salem Road for a domestic assault.

May 21: Staff responded to the 2100 block of Morattico Road for a domestic disturbance, to a walk-in report of obtaining money by false pretense and credit card fraud, to the 1200 block of Cherry Point Drive for trespassers, to the 6500 block of Mary Ball Road for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the area of James Wharf and Newtown roads for juveniles on dirt bikes on the public highway, and to the 100 block of Western Branch Road for disorderly conduct.

May 22: Staff responded to the 600 block of Browns Store Road to assist NCSO with a fight in progress, to the 2900 block of Lara Road for a sudden death, to Mary Ball Road in Lively for a reckless driver, to the 8300 block of Mary Ball Road for the report of suspicious activity, and to the 300 block of Johns Neck Road for a domestic disturbance involving alcohol.

Staff also conducted 17 traffic stops, issued six summonses, assisted three motorists,  handled eight calls for traffic control, investigated eight building alarms, logged an inmate transport, received 16 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded three calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Timber Run Lane, a traffic crash on North Main Street, and to set up a landing zone for EMS on Taylors Creek Road.

White Stone VFD responded to a lift assistance request for EMS on Rappahannock Drive, and to set up a landing zone for EMS on Beach Road.
