Sheriff’s Report 06-17-21

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felonies

Christopher Michael Carnes, 40, of Lancaster was charged June 9 with three counts of distributing/selling for profit a Schedule I or II narcotic.

Matthew Burleigh Reid, 46, of White Stone was charged June 12 with possession of a Schedule I or II drug.

Jesse Randall Phelps, 32, of Saluda was charged June 12 with abduction: by force, intimidation or force; possession of a Schedule I or II drug; failure to stop after receiving an audible and visible signal to do so: driving in excess of 20 mph over the limit; aggressive driving by causing a hazard to another; reckless driving; failure to appear in court on a felony offense; and failure to stop at a signal light.

Misdemeanors

A Weems woman, 58, was charged June 8 with two counts of allowing dogs to run at large.

A White Stone man, 19, was charged June 10 with a probation violation.

A Lancaster man, 31, was charged June 10 with failure to appear on a traffic summons.

A White Stone man, 38, was charged June 13 with violation of a protective order.

Activity report

June 7: Staff responded to the 200 block of Apple Grove Boulevard to assist emergency medical services (EMS) with entry into a residence for a medical call, to the 100 block of Peach Tree Lane for a suspicious person, to the 100 block of Chestnut Grove Road for use of profane language over the telephone, to the 900 block of Ocran Road to assist EMS on a medical call, to the 100 block of Harris Road for a suicidal person, and to the 100 block of Jones Drive for theft by fraud.

June 8: Staff responded to the 300 block of Mosquito Point Road for a threat to harm/kill others with a weapon, to the 800 block of Belmont Creek Road for a suspicious package delivered by USPS, to the 2100 block of Weems Road for vandalism of a mailbox, to the 300 block of Lumberlost Trail for a trespasser, and to the 100 block of Landsend East for a trespasser.

June 9: Staff responded to the 7300 block of River Road for a child custody dispute, and to the 100 block of Clark Road for a combative dementia patient.

June 10: Staff responded to the 2800 block of Mary Ball Road for gunshots in the early morning hours, to the 200 block of East Highview Drive for a possible stolen trailer license plate, to the 1600 block of Riverwood Drive for gunshots in the evening hours, and to the 100 block of Beach Creek Road for a burglary.

June 11: Staff responded to the 400 block of Levelgreen Road to assist the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office with a hit and run investigation, to numerous weather related reports of flooding roadways, and to the 100 block of Windjammer Lane for suspicious activity.

June 12: Staff responded to the 900 block of Old Orchard Drive for littering, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a verbal disagreement, to Mary Ball Road in White Stone and Kilmarnock for a reckless driver, to the 7800 block of River Road for a sexual assault, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a vehicle and trailer disabled in the roadway, and to the 100 block of Clark Road for an aggressive dementia patient.

June 13: Staff responded to the 100 block of Rappahannock Landing for suspicious activity, to the 100 block of Sullavans Road for a possible overdose, to the 800 block of Nuttsville Road for suspicious activity, Peake Drive for juveniles driving recklessly, to the 2700 block of Weems Road for gunshots in the evening hours, to Mary Ball Road in Lively for a reckless driver, and to the 100 block of Robinson Road for a domestic disturbance involving a juvenile.

Staff also conducted 23 traffic stops, issued 23 summonses, assisted two motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, investigated six building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged three inmate transports, received 11 E911 hang-up calls, fielded four requests for animal control service and issued two related summonses.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded with Kilmarnock VFD to an electrical fire on Jessie duPont Memorial Highway.

Upper Lancaster VFD also responded to a lightning strike on Mary Ball Road and to assist Northumberland with a structure fire on Steamboat Lane.

White Stone VFD responded to a dock fire on High Bank Road and a fire/smoke alarm on Hayden Road.
