Sheriff’s Report 08-11-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felonies

Paul Christian Lyons, 38, of Lancaster was charged August 1 with failure to appear on a felony offense and 10 counts of failure to appear on a misdemeanor offense.

Dornise Cordella Dixon, 57, of Weems was charged August 3 with assault and battery of a law enforcement officer engaged in public duties, impeding by threats or force a law enforcement officer lawfully engaged in public duties, and appearing intoxicated in public.

Laura Norton Purcell, 54, of Gum Spring was charged August 5 with obtaining money under false pretense over $1,000 and credit card forgery.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster man, 82, was charged August 2 with failure to appear on a misdemeanor offense.

A White Stone man, 23, was charged August 5 with contempt of court: failure to appear.

A Weems woman, 65, was charged August 5 with appearing intoxicated in public.

A Reedville man, 27, was charged August 5 with assault and battery of a family member.

Activity report

August 1: Staff responded to the 500 block of Gaskins Road for the report of trespassers, the 300 block of Yorkshire Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with the report of a suspicious person, to Mary Ball Road and Avis Trail for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 500 block of Devils Bottom Road for a civil issue, to the 100 block of Westview Lane for a suspicious person, to the 1900 block of Windmill Point Road for an intoxicated person walking in the roadway, and to the Kilmarnock area for a possible suicidal person traveling in a vehicle.

August 2: Staff responded to the 1300 block of Irvington Road for suspicious activity, to the 8700 block of Mary Ball Road for verbal disagreement, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a person with an altered mental status, to the 500 block of Rappahannock Drive for a two-vehicle minor traffic crash, to the 500 block of Devils Bottom Road for a dispute over access to water, to the 200 block of Paynes Shop Road for a child custody dispute, and to North Main Street for a possible intoxicated driver.

August 3: Staff responded to the 100 block of North Main Street for a suspicious person, to Nuttsville a man with an automatic weapon that has made threats toward another, to the 1400 block of Weems Road for a domestic dispute involving alcohol, and to the 300 block of Cottage Lane for suspicious activity.

August 4: Staff responded to the 100 block of Mary Ball Road for a disabled vehicle, to the 1900 block of White Chapel Road for vehicles stopped in the roadway, to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for funds obtained by false pretense, to the 100 block of Peake Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 100 block of Sandlin Drive for a trespasser, to the 100 block of Third Avenue to assist KPD with a verbal disagreement, to the 17400 block of Mary Ball Road for a suicidal person with a weapon, to a walk-in report of a stolen wrist watch that occurred at the 1300 block of Crab Point Road, and to the 300 block of Pine Trail for an unattended death.

August 5: Staff responded to Laurel Point Road for a suspicious person, to the 100 block of Old Salem Road for a downed tree in the roadway, to the 9700 block of Mary Ball Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 900 block of Ocran Road to check the welfare of a resident, to Irvington Road and White Pine Drive for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 1000 block of Goodluck Road for an intoxicated and disorderly person, and to the 9000 block of River Road for a domestic assault.

August 6: Staff responded to the 10000 block of River Road for a reckless driver, to a walk-in report of stalking that occurred in the Weems area, and to the 200 block of Red Fox Lane for the report of suspicious activity.

August 7: Staff responded to the 400 block of Johns Neck Road for a juvenile riding a dirt motorcycle without a helmet on the public roadway, to a walk-in report of vandalism that occurred at the 2900 block of Lara Road, and to the 2800 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious male.

Staff also conducted 12 traffic stops, issued five summonses, assisted 2 motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, investigated four building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged 11 inmate transport, received 33 E911 hang up calls, and fielded a call for animal control.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash at Mary Ball Road and Avis Trail, and with Kilmarnock VFD to a woods fire on Lombardy Grove Lane.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a traffic crash at Jessie duPont Memorial Highway and Goodluck Road, and to a fire/smoke alarm on Landon Hall Road.

White Stone VFD responded to a lift assistance request on Black Stump Road.

Update

The Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office has posted a notice that a youth previously reported missing has been located and is safe.
