Sheriff’s Report 09-09-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against two individuals.

Felony

Jalin Mathaniel Powell, 21, of Reedvile was charged August 30 with probation violation on a felony offense.

Misdemeanor

A Kilmarnock man, 70, was charged August 31 with driving while intoxicated, blood alcohol content 0.20% or greater; and failure to drive within clearly marked lanes.

Activity report

August 29: Staff responded to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with suspicious activity, to the 200 block of Jeffrey Avenue for a single-vehicle traffic crash versus a tree, and to the 200 block of Irvington Road to assist KPD with a two-vehicle traffic crash.

August 30: Staff responded to the 900 block of White Chapel Road for suspicious activity, and to the 6700 block of Mary Ball Road for an aggressive driver.

August 231: Staff responded to the 100 block of Butlers Avenue for a wanted person, to the 1300 block of Old Salem Road for vandalism of a vehicle window, to the 8300 block of Mary Ball Road for property damage after being struck by a large truck, to the 800 block of Clark Point Drive to assist emergency medical services (EMS) with lift assistance; to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a possible intoxicated driver, and to the 400 block of Wilson Lane for a person with an altered mental status armed with a knife and long gun.

September 1: Staff responded to the 200 Block of Woods Drive for a burglary of a shed and larceny from within, to the a walk-n report of an assault that occurred at the 10400 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway, and to a walk-in report of a stolen 2006 EZLB boat trailer.

September 2: Staff responded to the 12800 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious person, to Mary Ball and Alfonso roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Courtney Road for obtaining money by false pretense, to the 100 block of Waters Bluff Circle for an abandoned 2003 Maxum boat, to the 300 block of Woods Drive for trespassers, to the 100 block of Woodbrook Drive for suspicious activity, and to the 100 block of Fish Hawk Drive for shooting in the area in the late evening hours.

September 3: Staff responded to the 2200 block of River Road for shooting in the area in the early morning hours, to the 18500 block of Mary Ball Road for a civil issue, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for furniture in the roadway obstructing traffic, to the 500 block of Lancaster Creek Drive for gunshots fired toward an occupied dwelling, to the 500 block of Mosquito Beach Road for a trespasser, to the 300 block of Old Ferry Road for trespassers, and to the 100 block of Harris Road for the assault of a juvenile.

September 4: Staff responded to the 400 block of Holly Haven Road to assist EMS with entry into a residence after being alerted of a medical condition, to the 300 block of Callis Road for golf balls being struck and hitting the complainant’s house, and to Windmill Point Road for a reckless driver.

Staff also conducted 52 traffic stops, issued 36 summonses, assisted four motorists,  handled four calls for traffic control, investigated four building alarms, processed two mental health orders, logged five inmate transports, received 19 E911 hang up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to separate lift assistance requests on Harris Road.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Landing Drive and to an electrical fire on Mary Ball Road
