Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against three individuals.
Felonies
Maurice Channen Veney, 32, of Heathsville was charged September 21 with assault and battery of a family member, third offense in 20 years.
Johnathan Frederick Mitchell, 33, of Lancaster was charged September 22 with a probation violation on a felony offense.
Misdemeanor
A Lancaster man, 55, was charged September 18 with driving while under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving of a vehicle that was not under control on the highway.

September 18: Staff responded to a walk-in report of computer fraud, to the 1400 block of Merry Point Road for a suspicious person, to a walk-in report of check theft and forgery that occurred at the 500 block of Greentown Road, to a walk-in report of a found Ruger LC9 semi-auto handgun near North Main Street and Old Fairgrounds Way, to the 400 block of Greentown Road for a fight in progress with injuries, and to the 100 block of Paynes Creek Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.
September 19: Staff responded to the 100 block of South Main Street to assist Virginia State Police with the foot pursuit of a wanted person, to a walk-in report of a stolen Playstation that occurred in the 100 block of Cherry Hill Road, to Vineyard Grove for gunshots in the late evening hours, and to the 100 block of Wilson Lane for vandalism of a motor vehicle.
September 20: Staff responded to the 300 block of Dungeons Thicket Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 300 block of Steamboat Road for check theft and forgery, to the 100 block of Entertainment Drive for a disorderly person, to the 100 block of Pinckardsville Road for a wanted person, to Lara Road for reckless driving, to Mary Ball Road and Avis Trail for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to Mary Ball and River roads to assist Richmond County Sheriff’s Office with a DUI traffic stop, to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for suspicious activity, and to the 12000 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.
September 21: Staff responded to the 4900 block of Windmill Point Road for a wanted person, to the 400 block of Chesapeake Drive for a check theft and forgery, to the 100 block of School Street for a check theft and forgery, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a suspicious person, and to the 10600 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious person walking along the highway.
September 22: Staff responded to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for suspicious activity, to the 13000 block of River Road for an overdose of narcotics, and to the 600 block of Scott Road for a downed tree in the roadway.
September 23: Staff responded to the 600 block of Chesapeake Drive for the vandalism of vehicle tires, to Saint Andrews Lane for trees down in the roadway, to the 200 block of Ottoman Ferry Road for a domestic assault, to the 100 block of East Highview Drive for damage to the back window of a vehicle from a gunshot, to the 500 block of River Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 900 block of Ring Farm Road for damage to a mailbox from a vehicle strike, to Courthouse and White Chapel roads for a tree down in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for an animal carrier in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, and to the 100 block of Spring Street for a disorderly person with an altered mental status.
September 24: Staff responded to the 100 block of Hatton Avenue to assist Kilmarnock Police Department with a reckless driver, and to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for the report of suspicious activity.
Staff also conducted 10 traffic stops, issued eight summonses, assisted one motorist, investigated two building alarms, logged three inmate transports, received 11 E911 hang up calls, and fielded five calls for animal control service.
Fire calls
The Kilmarnock and White Stone volunteer fire departments responded to a structure fire on North Main Street.
Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a traffic crash on Mary Ball Road.
White Stone VFD also responded to an extraction from an inoperative elevator on King Carter Drive.
