Sheriff’s Report 1-09-20

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported a misdemeanor charge against one individual.

A White Stone man, 38, was charged January 3 with assault and battery of a family member.

Activity Report

December 30: Staff responded to White Hall Road for a suspicious person with a firearm, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a death by suicide and recovery of the remains in the river, and to Merry Point and Hoecake roads for an abandoned vehicle.

December 31: Staff responded to the 300 block of Club Drive to assist Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office with a report of suspicious activity, to the 100 block of Campbell Road for a theft, to a walk-in report of a sexual assault, to the 100 block of Washington Street for a burglary, to the 100 block of Lively Oaks Road for a hit and run vehicle crash on private property, and to the 500 block of South Main Street to assist with traffic control at a structure fire.

January 1: Staff responded to the 400 block of Rappahannock Drive for a possible suicidal person, to the 400 block of North Main Street for a verbal disagreement, and to the 100 block of North Main Street for a suspicious person.

January 2: Staff responded to the 700 block of Sage Hill Road for juvenile behavior issues, to the 100 block of Whisk Drive for vandalism, to the 900 block of Ocran Road for suspicious activity, and to the 200 block of School Street for the larceny of a radio.

January 3: Staff responded to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for the reported sexual assault of a minor, and to the 100 block of School Street for a domestic assault.

January 4: Staff responded to the 5500 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 200 block of Orchard Point Drive for a domestic disturbance, to Mary Ball Road between Lively and Chinns Mill for the report of a downed tree in the roadway, to the 100 block of Washington Street for a verbal disagreement, to the 100 block of Harris Road for a disorderly mental patient, and to the 100 block of Wiggins Avenue for a suicidal person with a weapon.

January 5: Staff responded to the 1400 block of Shore Drive for the report of a child custody dispute, and to the area of Mollusk on River Road for the reported theft of electronics.

Staff also conducted 23 traffic stops, issued 10 summonses, assisted two motorists, handled two calls for traffic control, investigated five building alarms, processed two mental health orders, logged three inmate transports, received 10 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock, Upper Lancaster and White Stone volunteer fire departments responded to a structure fire on South Main Street.

Upper Lancaster VFD also responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Lovers Lane, a traffic crash on Mary Ball Road, and a tree in the roadway on Mary Ball Road.

White Stone VFD also responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Windjammer Lane.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a tree on the power line on Rose Drive.

EMS calls

For the weeks of December 30-January 5, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 31 calls, including 21 medical emergencies, two injuries, a traffic accident, five fires and two other calls.
