Sheriff’s Report 1-23-20

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported a misdemeanor charge against one individual.

A Deltaville man, 37, was charged January 16 with possession of marijuana.

Activity Report

January 13: Staff responded to the 10400 block of Mary Ball Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for an extension ladder in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 10800 block of River Road for vandalism of a building, to Mary Ball and Boys Camp roads to assist Virginia State Police with search of a vehicle for narcotics, to DMV Drive for a two-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 2100 block of Black Stump Road to check the welfare of a resident after receiving a report from a family member.

January 14: Staff responded to a walk-in report of the violation of a protective order, to the 100 block of Heron Crest Lane to assist Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) with a domestic disturbance, to Merry Point Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 2900 block of White Chapel Road for a possible burglary, to the 100 block of Thomas Landing Road for obtaining goods under false pretense, to Beanes Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, and to Devils Bottom Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

January 15: Staff responded to Mary Ball Road between Kilmarnock and Lancaster for a reckless driver, and to Devils Bottom Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

January 16: Staff responded to Merry Point Road for gun shots, to the 20600 block of Mary Ball Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, and to Norris Bridge for debris on the roadway causing a traffic hazard.

January 17: Staff responded to a walk-in report of threatening text messages, and responded to the 100 block of Lancaster Drive for a domestic disturbance.

January 18: Staff responded to Ring Farm Road for a trespasser, and to the 100 block of Harris Road for the report of child abuse.

January 19: Staff responded to the 8300 block of Mary Ball Road for a possible burglary, to a walk-in report of a child custody issue, to the 400 block of Mila Road to assist NCSO with a domestic disturbance involving a firearm.

Staff also conducted 52 traffic stops, issued 33 summonses, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled five calls for traffic control, investigated three building alarms, logged four inmate transports, received 10 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a woods fire on Barnes Road and a traffic crash on Devils Bottom Road.

The Kilmarnock VFD responded to a traffic crash on DMV Drive, separate fire/smoke alarms on Boys Camp Road and North Main Street, and a vehicle fire on Main Street.

The White Stone VFD responded to a traffic crash on Mary Ball Road and a lift assistance request on Ring Farm Road.

EMS calls

For January 5-18, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 68 calls, including 30 medical emergencies, nine injuries, four traffic accidents, nine fires and 16 other calls.
