Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against six individuals.
Felonies
Brian Milton Carter Jr., 23, of Lancaster was charged September 23 with abuse and neglect of children, as well as misdemeanor charges of assault and battery of a family or household member, and preventing help: obstructing communication sent through telephone.
Grace Elizabeth Lila Guthrie, 30, of Grottoes was charged September 23 with possession of unlawful controlled substances.
Misdemeanors
A Kilmarnock man, 30, was charged September 22 with two counts of issuing a bad check on behalf of a business firm or corporation in payment of wages.
A Lancaster woman, 39, was charged September 22 with revocation of suspension of sentence and probation.
A Lancaster man, 23, was charged September 24 with violation of pretrial: consuming alcohol.
An Irvington man, 55, was charged September 25 with assault and battery, disorderly conduct in a public place, and injuring, etc., any property, monument, etc.

September 21: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for destruction of property; to the 4000 block of Christ Church Road for a disabled vehicle, to River and Bewdley roads for the report a disabled vehicle, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a disabled vehicle, and to the 1000 block of Ocran Road for gunshots in the late evening hours.
September 22: Staff responded to the 700 block of Alfonso Road for a traffic complaint, to Rappahannock and Chesapeake drives for a two-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 200 block of Beach Road for a domestic disturbance.
September 23: Staff responded to the 200 block of Beach Road for suspicious activity, to the 300 block of Windmill Point Road for trespassing, and to the 3000 block of White Chapel Road for a domestic assault.
September 24: Staff responded to the 300 block of West Bay Drive for a prowler, to the 600 block of Ocran Road for legal advice, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for an intoxicated person, to the 2000 block of Merry Point Road for a suspicious person, and to Goodluck Road for livestock in the highway.
September 25: Staff responded to Alfonso Road for downed utility lines, to the 300 block of Ottoman Ferry Road for a landlord/tenant dispute, and to the 400 block of Old Salem Road for a domestic disturbance.
September 26: Staff responded to the 100 block of Reynolds Farm Road for a verbal dispute, to Taylors Creek Road for a downed tree, and to the 60 block of Norris Drive for an adult welfare check.
September 27: Staff responded to the 200 block of Taylors Creek Road for a suspicious vehicle.
Staff also conducted eight traffic stops, issued four summonses, assisted four motorists, recorded four deer strike accidents, handled a request for traffic control, investigated seven building alarms, logged two inmate transports, received four E911 hang up calls, and handled two calls for animal control services.
Fire calls
White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash at Rappahannock and Chesapeake drives.
Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a fire alarm on Bellwood Drive.
