Sheriff’s Report 10-22-20

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against three individuals.

Felony

A Weems man, 25, was charged October 14 with larceny with intent to sell or distribute property valued at over $1,000.

Misdemeanors

A Kilmarnock man, 26, was charged October 14 with cruelty to animals, generally.

A Lancaster woman, 29, was charged October 17 with assault and battery.

Activity report

October 12: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Ocran roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 300 block of North Main Street to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a two-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 400 block of Levelgreen Road to check the welfare of two juveniles after receiving a report from a family member.

October 13: Staff responded to the 400 block of Chesapeake Drive for a traffic hazard, to the 300 block of Old Ferry Road for downed power lines, to the 100 block of Holly Haven Road to assist emergency medical services (EMS) with lift assistance, to the 100 block of Chestnut Grove Road for a person with mental issues, to South Main Street and Wiggins Avenue to assist KPD with threats made to kill or harm another, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, and to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for the brandishing a firearm in a public place.

October 14: Staff responded to the 11600 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 1300 block of Shore Drive for domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Morattico Road for a possible suicidal person, to the 100 block of Bayview Drive for an attempted suicide, and to the 100 block of John Creek Road for trespassers.

October 15: Staff responded to the 100 block of Morattico Road for an attempted suicide, to the 100 block of Wiggins Avenue for a trespasser, to the 200 block of Wiggins Avenue for a gunshot, to the 500 block of Gaskins Road for a vehicle in the area shooting out of the window, to the 300 block of White Hall Road for a prowler, and to the 500 block of Wilson Lane for a disorderly person.

October 16: Staff responded to the Norris Bridge for a two-vehicle traffic crash with one vehicle overturned, to the 100 block of Weems Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, to the 100 block of North Main Street for a possible suicidal person, to the 100 block of Willow Hill Road for a suspicious person, to the 100 block of Waterview Drive for a domestic disturbance, and to the 9200 block of Courthouse Road for the report of a single-vehicle traffic crash.

October 17: Staff responded to the 600 block of Corrotoman Drive for a single-vehicle traffic crash with serious injuries, to Windmill Point Road and Cypress Lane for an abandoned vehicle, to Goodluck and Mary Ball Roads for an abandoned vehicle, to the 700 block of Christ Church Road for the unauthorized use of a vehicle, to the 400 block of Bull Creek Road for vandalism, and to the 10700 block of Mary Ball Road for a vehicle pursuit by law enforcement.

October 18: Staff responded to the 100 block of Harris Road for a malicious wounding, and to the Norris Bridge for a disabled vehicle causing a traffic hazard.

Staff also conducted 17 traffic stops, issued 11 summonses, assisted five motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, investigated nine building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged an inmate transport, received 26 E911 hang-up calls, and handled three calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to separate traffic crashes at Mary Ball and Ocran roads and on Norris Bridge, as well as separate carbon monoxide alarms at Park Place and Old Oak Trail.

The Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a vehicle fire on Mary Ball Road, a fire/smoke alarm on Hoecake Road and a traffic crash on Corrotoman Drive.

The Kilmarnock VFD responded to a traffic crash on Weems Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against six individuals.

Felonies

David Tingle Traylor, 57, of Callao was charged October 13 with possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony. He also was charged with possession of ammunition after being convicted of a felony, assault and battery of a family member and possession of marijuana.

Glenn Michael Hogan, 34, of Lottsburg was charged October 14 with felony strangulation, causing injury. He also was charged with two misdemeanor counts of assault and battery on family members.

Misdemeanors

A Heathsville man, 21, was charged October 13 with failing to appear in Northumberland County General District Court for a preliminary hearing on a felony charge of not reporting an accident with a death or injury and a misdemeanor charge of allowing an unlicensed person to drive.

A Heathsville man, 60, was charged October 17 with discharging a firearm in a city/town or in a place of business, namely Subway, without bodily injury to another. He also was charged with reckless handling of a firearm and damaging property belonging to Subway.

A Lancaster man, 46, was charged October 18 with violating a protective order. This warrant was from Hampton and served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Heathville man, 32, was charged October 18 with assault and battery of a family member.
