Sheriff’s Report 12-10-20

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against six individuals.

Felony

Jonte Artyne Towles, 25, of Reedville was charged December 1 with shooting a firearm from a vehicle, possession of a firearm by a felon, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, damaging property valued at over $1,000, reckless handling of a firearm and shooting a firearm in a public place.

Misdemeanors

An Irvington man, 33, was charged December 1 with trespassing after being forbidden to do so.

A Lancaster man, 21, was charged December 2 with violating community-based probation.

A White Stone man, 38, was charged December 2 with violating a protective order.

A Lancaster man, 19, was charged December 3 with driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license, possession of alcohol by a person under 21, reckless driving, two counts of probation violation on misdemeanor offenses, and probation violation on a felony offense.

A Kilmarnock woman, 74, was charged December 3 with failure to appear on a misdemeanor offense.

Activity report

Nov. 30: Staff responded to Hoecake Road for a tree blocking the roadway, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris on the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 8600 block of Mary Ball Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 5200 block of Mary Ball Road for suspicious activity, to the 900 block of Ocran Road for a suspicious vehicle, and to the 100 block of Scott Road for destruction of property and trespassing.

Dec. 1: Staff responded to the 100 block of Scott Road for trespassing, and to the 100 block of Bel-Mer Way to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance.

Dec. 2: Staff responded to the Norris Bridge for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 600 block of Boys Camp Road to check the welfare of a resident, and to Mary Ball and Goodluck Roads for damage to a vehicle.

Dec. 3: Staff responded to the 900 block of Johns Neck Road to check the welfare of the resident, to the 100 block of Old Bethel Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 700 block of Corrotoman Drive for a suspicious vehicle.

Dec. 4: Staff responded to White Chapel Road for a reckless driver, to the 100 block of Sandlin Drive for a trespasser, and to the 10100 block of Courthouse Road for a vehicle stopped in the roadway causing a traffic hazard.

Dec. 5: Staff responded to the 700 block of River Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

Dec. 6: Staff responded to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 200 block of Longview Drive to check the welfare of a resident, to the 100 block of Magnolia Circle to assist KPD with a possible prowler, to the 100 block of Carters Cove Drive for gunshots in the area, and to Mary Ball and Field Trial Roads for an abandoned vehicle.

Staff also conducted 14 traffic stops, issued 11 summonses, assisted five motorists, recorded six deer strike accidents, investigated three building alarms, logged an inmate transport, received 30 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock and White Stone volunteer fire departments responded to an elevator fire on Waverly Avenue.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a traffic crash on Crosshills Road and a smoke in the attic call on Irvington Road.

White Stone VFD also responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Windmill Point Road.

Upper Lancaster VFD also responded to separate traffic crashes on Old Bethel and River roads.
