Sheriffs’ Reports 02-01-24

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against two individuals.

A Waldorf, Md., man, 47, was charged January 23 with driving a vehicle not turning left on a highway that is marked with double traffic lines, driving to the left of such lines, and receiving stolen goods.

A Kilmarnock man, 31, was charged January 28 with driving while intoxicated with a BAC between .15%-.20%, and reckless driving of a vehicle not under proper control on a highway.

Activity report

January 22: Staff responded to the 500 block of Courtney Road for a larceny, to Buzzards Neck Road for a suspicious person, to the 100 block of River Run Road for a scam, to the 2000 block of White Chapel Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 2000 block of Irvington Road for power lines down, and to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for a verbal dispute.

January 23: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Courthouse roads for a disabled vehicle, to the 40 block of Oak Leaf Drive for suspicious activity, and to the 100 block of Harris Drive for a disorderly patient.

January 24: Staff responded to the 1300 block of Old Salem Road for threats, to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for an adult welfare check, to Mary Ball and Devils Bottom roads for a disabled vehicle, and to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for a wanted person.

January 25: Staff responded to the 16000 block of Mary Ball Road for a disabled logging truck, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the highway, and to the 1300 block of Weems Road for a suspicious person.

January 26: Staff responded to the 10 block of Brent Court for a verbal disagreement, to the 400 block of Twin Branch Road for an assault, to the 1300 block of Old Salem Road for legal advice, and to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a citizen obtaining an emergency protective order.

January 27: Staff responded to the 1300 block of Weems Road for suspicious activity, to Sage Hill and River roads for a disabled vehicle, to Buzzards Neck Road for a suspicious vehicle, and to the 100 block of Myway Lane for a noise complaint.

January 28: Staff responded to the 12000 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

Staff also conducted 17 traffic stops, issued 12 summonses, recorded a deer strike accident, investigated three building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged an inmate transport, received seven E911 hang up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at 460 South Main Street.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at 5940 White Chapel Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against 14 individuals.

Felonies

Joseph Steven Callahan, 52, of Burgess was charged January 11 on a capias to show cause issued by the Lancaster County Circuit Court for a probation violation on a felony charge of grand larceny. This was served by Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office. 

Matthew Scott Ramsey, 39, of Montpelier was charged January 12 with grand larceny. This was a Northumberland County warrant served by the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

Charles Lewis Elmore, 47, of Farnham was charged January 15 on a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to appear on a felony charge. 

Dakota Anastasio Galves, 28, of Reedville was charged January 21 with breaking and entering and assault and battery.

Bennie Terrio Lee, 40, of Heathsville was charged January 26 with felony shoplifting from Walmart. This was a Lancaster County warrant served by the Virginia State Police. Lee also was charged on a direct indictment issued by the Northumberland County Multi-Jurisdiction Grand Jury on three felony charges of distribution/selling a Schedule II drug.  

Misdemeanors

A Callao woman, 36, was charged January 8 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to appear. 

A Newport News man, 26, was charged January 14 on a misdemeanor warrant for having a dangerous dog. This was a Northumberland County warrant served by the Newport News Police Department. 

A Callao man, 34, was charged January 15 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to appear on an original charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a license. 

A Heathsville woman, 28, was charged January 19 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to appear after signing a form to appear for trial. 

A Heathsville man, 44, was charged January 19 with hit and run, damaging property and driving revoked or suspended. 

A Heathsville woman, 28, was charged January 19 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to appear on the original charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and non-compliance with VASAP. 

A Heathsville woman, 30, was charged January 22 with assault and battery of a family member. 

A Reedville man, 31, was charged January 25 with animal cruelty. 

A Heathsville man, 44, was charged January 27 with assault and battery.
