Sheriffs’ reports 03-02-23

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against three individuals.

Felonies

Donovan Ramon Gregory, 23, of White Stone was charged February 21 for violating revocation of a suspended sentence and probation on a felony offense.

Jackie Denise Veney, 44, of Gloucester was charged February 22 for violating the terms of a first offender drug offense.

Misdemeanor

A Lancaster woman, 30, was charged February 23 with willfully or maliciously preventing communication by telephone the summoning of law enforcement, fire or rescue services.

Activity report

February 20: Staff responded to Kamps Mill Road for illegal dumping of trash, to Mary Ball and Ocran Roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 900 block of Blueberry Point Road for a missing/stolen Pond Prowler Kayak, to the 200 block of Old Fairgrounds Way to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a shoplifter, and to the 3100 block of White Chapel Road for a domestic disturbance.

February 21: Staff responded to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with an assault, to the 100 block of Lancaster Drive for threats made while brandishing a knife, and to Merry Point and Hoecake roads for a single-vehicle crash.

February 22: Staff responded to the 100 block of Split Oak Lane for a medical alarm, to the 800 block of Rappahannock Drive for credit card fraud and the theft of building materials, to the 400 block of South Main Street to assist KPD with a trespasser, and to the 400 block of Lumberlost Road for a domestic disturbance.

February 23: Staff responded to Davis Mill Road for suspicious activity, to the 2900 block of Lara Road for overdose of narcotics and to assist emergency medical services (EMS) with a combative patient, to the 200 block of Bald Eagle Drive for a sudden death, to Mary Ball and Goodluck roads for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 100 block of Morattico Road for a domestic dispute over drug use, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for suspicious activity, to the 300 block of Windmill Point Road for vandalism of a vehicle and the theft of a state inspection sticker, to the 300 block of Beach Road to check the welfare of a resident, to Historyland Highway and Moan Road to assist Virginia State Police (VSP) with a traffic stop, to the 1900 block of Taylors Creek Road to assist EMS with making entry into a residence for a medical emergency, and to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for a person with an altered mental status.

February 24: Staff responded to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist KPD for what sounded like an explosion, to the 300 block of Cresent Cove Lane for trespassers, to the 4300 block of Merry Point Road for construction fraud, to the 100 block of Smith Lane for trespassing, and to the 600 block of Chestnut Grove Lane for a domestic assault.

February 25: Staff responded to the 200 block of Burnt Wharf Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 8600 block of Mary Ball Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 1900 block of Irvington Road for a sudden death, and to the 8200 block of Mary Ball Road for a suicidal person.

February 26: Staff responded to the 600 block of Chesapeake Drive for a fight in progress, to the 500 block of Lancaster Creek Drive for a fight in progress, to Merry Point and Mary Ball roads for a reckless driver, to the 100 block of Smith Lane for trespassers and destruction of property, to the 200 block of Holly Haven Road to assist an out-of-state Sheriff’s Office with a death notification, to Mary Ball Road in White Stone for a possible intoxicated driver, and to the 400 block of White Chapel Road for a domestic disturbance with alcohol involved.

Staff also conducted 28 traffic stops, issued 23 summonses, assisted three motorists, handled nine calls for traffic control, investigated three building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged five inmate transports, and received 23 E911 hang up calls.

Fire calls

White Stone Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) responded to a traffic crash at Mary Ball and Ocran roads, a lift assistance request on Ring Farm Road, and with Kilmarnock VFD to a brush fire on Brightwater Drive.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a vehicle fire on North Main Street.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a vehicle fire on Mary Ball Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against 11 individuals.

Felonies

Page Randolph Stoner, 61, of Kinsale was charged February 17 on a direct indictment issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for violent felon, with possession/transporting a firearm, reckless handling of a firearm, pointing or brandishing a firearm and assault and battery of a family member. She was served by VSP.

David Mitchell Browning Tate, 39, of Lottsburg on February 17 was served a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to comply with his conditions of a suspended sentence by violating probation.

Trent M. Hayden, 20, of Callao was charged February 19 with possession of a Schedule I/II drug, driving under the influence, first offense and reckless driving.

Jonathan Bruce Mahan, 41, of Farnham was charged February 22 with failing to perform construction after receiving an advance over $1000. This was a Northumberland County warrant, served by Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO).

Misdemeanors

A Lottsburg man, 54, was charged February 11 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Heathsville man, 24, was charged February 16 with two counts of assault and battery.

A Heathsville man, 71, was charged February 17 with driving on a revoked or suspended license.

A Callao man, 34, was charged February 20 with driving while suspended and reckless driving by not yielding while entering onto a highway. He also was served a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Westmoreland County General District Court for failing to pay fines and cost of court.

A Heathsville man, 36, on February 20 was served a summons issued by the Warsaw Town Police for speeding. He was served by the VSP.

A Heathsville man, 24, on February 22 was served a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to comply with pre-trial supervision by committing two new charges of assault. He was served by the RCSO.

A Heathsville man, 25, was charged February 26 with assault and battery of a family member.
