Sheriffs’ Reports 04-13-23

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against six individuals.

A Lancaster man, 33, was charged April 5 with appearing intoxicated in public.

A White Stone man, 33, was charged April 6 with driving while intoxicated, consuming an alcoholic beverage while driving a motor vehicle upon the public highway, driving while license is suspended for failure to provide proof of financial responsibility and no/expired state safety inspection.

A Lancaster man, 37, was charged April 7 with failure to appear for arraignment on driving suspended, second offense.

A Heathsville man, 71, was charged April 7 with failure to appear for trial on previous show cause for failure to pay restitution.

A Lancaster man, 31, was charged April 9 with violating a provision of a preliminary protective order.

A Lancaster woman, 69, was charged April 9 with intentionally destroying, defacing or damaging property valued at less than $1,000.

Activity report

April 3: Staff responded to the 300 block of Sunset Drive for larceny of a nandina plant, and to the 7300 block of River Road for a verbal dispute.

April 4: Staff responded to the 5700 block of White Chapel Road for suspicious activity, to the 400 block of Wilson Lane for a personal property dispute, and to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for suspicious activity.

April 5: Staff responded to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive to assist Virginia State Police with the stopping of three reckless drivers, to the 12200 block of Mary Ball Road for a personal property dispute, to the 1700 block of Laurel Point Road for destruction of property, and to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for a person intoxicated in public.

April 6: Staff responded to the 8200 block of Mary Ball Road to assist Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with a medical emergency, to Kamps Mill and Mary Ball roads for suspicious activity, to the 200 block of Rocky Neck Road for a suicidal person, and to the 1800 block of Windmill Point Road for an overdose of medications.

April 7: Staff responded to the 1900 block of River Road for vandalism of personal property, to the 100 block of John Creek Road for vandalism of three mailboxes, to the 100 block of First Street for an armed robbery, and to the 100 block of Keith Lane for a civil issue concerning the right of way to the owners property.

April 8: Staff responded to the 1300 block of Devils Bottom Road for suicidal person, to the 1000 block of Morattico Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash that resulted in a fatality, to a walk-in report of the destruction of property that occurred at the 100 block of Meyers Drive.

April 9: Staff responded to the 100 block of Smith Lane for a trespasser, to a walk-in report of a protective order infringement that occurred at the 100 block of Smith Lane, and to the report of an assault that occurred at the 10000 block of River Road.

Staff also conducted 16 traffic stops, issued seven summonses, handled three calls for traffic control, investigated 10 building alarms, transported an inmate, received 30 E911 hang up calls, and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a brush fire on River Road, to a carbon monoxide alarm on Woodbrook Drive, to a traffic crash on Morattico Road and to a lift assistance request on Courtney Road.

White Stone VFD responded to a brush fire on Windmill Point Road, to an EMS assistance request on Carters Cove Drive and a propane leak on Chesapeake Drive.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felonies

Wesley Alan Tanner II, 35, of Reedville was charged April 5 on a capias issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court to have his bond revoked on his original charges of strangulation and assault and battery.

Eric C. Englander, 58, of Reedville was charged April 6 with possession of a firearm after being a convicted felon and possession of ammunition.

Misdemeanors

A Lottsburg man, 42, was charged April 4 with five misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty. He also was charged with four summonses for failing to vaccinate and four summonses for no license/tags.

A Callao man, 33, was charged April 7 with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a license.
