Sheriffs’ Reports 04-20-23

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against five individuals.

Felonies

Christopher Joseph Baublitz, 36, of Lancaster was charged April 15 with having been the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident in which an attended vehicle was damaged, failed to immediately stop as close to the scene as possible with the damage to the attended vehicle was more than $1,000, two counts of while being a parent, guardian of a child under 18 years of age, commit a willful act in the care of such child so gross and wanton as to show a reckless disregard for human life, drive while license suspended or revoked, knowingly obstruct a law-enforcement officer in the performance of their duties, intentionally destroy, deface or damage property valued at less than $1,000, and two counts of failure to ensure that a child under the age of eight was properly secured in a child restraint device.

Brian Lee Brooks, 39, of White Stone was charged April 11 with assault and battery of a family member, third offense.

Misdemeanors

A White Stone woman, 63, was charged April 10 with stealing property valued at less than $1,000.

A Callao man, 23, was charged April 14 with trespassing.

A Kilmarnock woman, 45, was charged April 15 with possessing or drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public elementary or secondary school or on public school grounds during school hours or school activities.

Activity report

April 10: Staff responded to the 2600 block of Merry Point Road to assist emergency medical services with entry into a residence for a medical emergency, to the 200 block of Ocran Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 2200 block of Windmill Point Road for a possible stolen vehicle, to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for an assault, to the 100 block of Fox Hill Drive to assist Kilmarnock Police Department with a tenant-landlord dispute, to a walk-in report of the destruction of property that occurred at the 2100 block of Ocran Road, and to the 100 block of First Street for threats made to harm another, to the 500 block of Gaskins Road for a domestic disturbance.

April 11: Staff responded to the 100 block of Summer Duck Lane for identity fraud, to the 200 block of Ocran Road for a domestic assault, and to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for downed power lines from a vehicle strike.

April 12: Staff responded to the 4300 block of Morattico Road for threats made to destroy private property, to the 400 block of Old Orchard Drive for a civil issue, to the report of fraudulent activity on a credit card that occurred at the 100 block of Beechwood Drive, to the 8800 block of Mary Ball Road for a minor vehicle crash on private property, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a disabled vehicle causing a traffic hazard, to Whisk Drive and Mary Ball Road for a hit and run accident, and to the 100 block of First Street for suspicious activity.

April 13: Staff responded to the 10500 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 400 block of Aquilla Point Drive for suspicious activity, to a walk-in report of threats made to harm another that occurred at the 300 block of Ivey Creek Road, to the 200 block of Daniel Drive for a tree down in the roadway, and to the 500 block of Poplar Neck Road for a wanted person.

April 14: Staff responded to the 1000 block of Beanes Road to assist Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office with a domestic disturbance, to the 8000 block of River Road to check the welfare of a juvenile; to the 100 block of Dillin Drive for trespassers, to the 100 block of Turner Lane for a burglary, to Indiantown and Weems roads for a semi truck stuck in the ditch blocking most of the roadway, to the 3100 block of Lara Road for a hit and run traffic crash involving an unlicensed driver, and to the 1800 block of Lara Road for suspicious activity.

April 15: Staff responded to the 100 block of Entertainment Drive juvenile behavior issues, to the 100 block of Otis Lane for the unauthorized use of a vehicle, to the 1300 block of Windmill Point Road for gunshots in the area in the late evening hours.

April 16: Staff responded to the 5400 block of Mary Ball Road for an attempted burglary and property damage, to the 200 block of Lowery Creek Road for a domestic disturbance, to Mary Ball and Pinckardsville roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 900 block of Chesapeake Drive for vandalism, and to the 100 block of First Street for threats made to harm another.

Staff also conducted six traffic stops, issued 13 summonses, assisted four motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, handled nine calls for traffic control, investigated seven building alarms, logged two inmate transports, received 36 E911 hang up calls, and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash on James B. Jones Memorial Highway and Radio Road, and to an illegal controlled burn on First Avenue.

White Stone VFD responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Mosquito Beach Lane, and to a controlled brush fire on Cherry Point Drive.
