Sheriffs’ Reports 05-06-21

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felony

Rodney Eli Wiggins Jr., 22, of Lancaster was charged April 27 with maliciously shooting or throwing a missile in/at an occupied building.

Misdemeanors

A Mechanicsville, Md., man, 26, was charged April 28 with driving while under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving: speeding over 20 mph above the speed limit.

A Lancaster woman, 45, was charged April 28 with assault.

A Kilmarnock man, 38, was charged May 1 with driving while under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, unsafe lane change and failure to stop at an intersection controlled by a stop sign.

A Kilmarnock man, 56, was charged May 1 with appearing intoxicated in public.

A Mathews woman, 33, was charged May 2 with assault and battery of a family member and resisting arrest: obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

A Rockville woman, 68, was charged May 2 with driving while intoxicated: first offense BAC .20–.25% and unsafe lane change.

Activity report

April 26: Staff responded to the 1300 block of Old Salem Road for a noise violation from barking dogs, to the 800 block of Chesapeake Drive for a suspicious person, to the 8300 block of Mary Ball Road for a disabled vehicle causing a traffic hazard, and to Wiggins Avenue for a two-vehicle traffic crash involving an off road dirt bike.

April 27: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a disabled vehicle, to Mary Ball and Courthouse roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 5200 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious vehicle, to the 5500 block of Windmill Point Road for suspicious activity, to the 100 block of Little Branch Drive to secure the scene on a structure fire, and to the 400 block of Rappahannock Drive for a hit-and-run traffic crash.

April 28: Staff responded to the Norris Bridge for a vehicle damaged from an item that was dropped from another vehicle, to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for littering, and to the 400 block of Lara Road for a possible burglary.

April 29: Staff responded to the 200 block of Hodges Lane to assist emergency medical services with a patient with an altered mental status, to the 100 block of Peach Tree Lane for money obtained by false pretenses, to Regina Road for a male driving on the roadway on a dirt bike with no helmet, to the report of a child sexual assault in the Lara Road area, and to several shots on Western Branch Road in the late evening hours.

April 30: Staff responded to the 700 block of Rappahannock Drive to check the welfare of a resident, to Peach Tree Lane for a tree down on the powerlines, Lowery Creek Road for a vehicle fire that resulted from a crash, to the 400 block of North Main Street for a verbal disagreement, to the 400 block of Lumberlost Road for threats made to harm or kill another, to the 6700 block of Mary Ball Road for a tree branch in the roadway, and to the 6700 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash involving a downed tree in the roadway.

May 1: Staff responded to the 100 block of Wiggins Avenue to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a trespasser, to the 400 block of Lumberlost Road for a suicidal person, to the 3500 block of Weems Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 900 block of Ring Farm Road for a noise violation from barking dogs, and o the 4300 block of Irvington Road for an intoxicated person in a public place.

May 2: Staff responded to the 100 block of North Main Street for suspicious activity, to the 100 block of Sir Guy Drive to check the welfare of a resident, to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Wesley Terrace for an unsupervised child, to the 500 block of Gaskins Road for an assault, to the 200 block of Newtown Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the 1400 block of Windmill Point Road for a suspicious person.

Staff also conducted 19 traffic stops, issued 11 summonses, assisted five motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, handled six calls for traffic control, investigated two building alarms, received 21 E911 hang-up calls and fielded a request for animal control service.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash at Mary Ball & Courthouse roads, a traffic crash on Mary Ball Road, a transformer fire on Patterson Lane, a vehicle fire on Lowery Creek Road, a fire/smoke alarm on Wishing Well Lane, an electrical fire on Mary Ball Road and with Kilmarnock VFD to a structure fire on Little Branch Drive.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a traffic crash on James B. Jones Memorial Highway and with White Stone VFD to a structure fire on Ice House Drive.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against nine individuals.

Felonies

Christopher Scott McKinley, 55, of Heathsville was charged April 19 with unauthorized use of construction funds.

Donald Scott Watrous, 61, of Heathsville was charged April 23 with threatening bodily harm in writing and obstruction of justice. These were Fauquier County warrants, served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO).

Cody Michael Broache, 21, of St. Stephens Church was charged April 27 with selling/distributing one or more ounces of marijuana, stalking and assault and battery of a household member. The selling/distributing and stalking charges were charges from NCSO. The assault and battery charge was a King and Queen County warrant, served by the NCSO.

Christopher Caleb Davis, 19, of Callao was charged April 28 with breaking and entering, interfering with property rights of another and criminal trespassing. He also was charged with damaging property, obstruction of justice and being drunk in public.

Misdemeanors

A Heathsville woman, 41, was charged April 19 with assault and battery.

A Heathsville man, 32, was charged April 20 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Reedville woman, 77, was charged April 20 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Louisiana man, 45, was charged April 26 with failing to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court for an original charge of petit larceny.

A Heathsville woman, 46, was charged April 28 with a capias/attachment of the body issued from the Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to appear.
