Sheriffs’ Reports 05-19-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against three individuals.

Felony

Thomas Walter Hathaway, 38, of  Reedville was charged May 13 for violations of after receiving a visible or audible signal from a law enforcement officer to bring his motor vehicle to a stop, driving such motor vehicle in a willful and wanton disregard of such signal so as to interfere with or endanger the operation of the law enforcement vehicle or endanger any person, and driving while under the influence of drugs.

Misdemeanors

A Henrico woman, 31, was charged May 14 with failure to appear in court on a misdemeanor offense.

A Haymarket man, 59, was charged May 15 with driving while under the influence, reckless driving and consuming an alcoholic beverage while driving a motor vehicle upon the public highway.

Activity Report

May 9: Staff responded to the 100 block of Rocky Neck Road for a burglary in progress.

May 10: Staff responded to the 1300 block of Weems Road for a noise violation from loud music, to the 3300 block of Lara Road for a person who fell and was in need of assistance, to the 800 block of Ivey Creek Road for a trespasser, to the 100 block of FMC Drive to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with suspicious activity, and to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard.

May 11: Staff responded to the Norris Bridge for a three-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Courtney Road for threats to harm another, and to the 1400 block of Irvington Road for reckless use of a firearm.

May 12: Staff responded to Windmill Point Road for a person going door-to-door panhandling, to Gonyon Road to assist Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) with a vehicle pursuit, to the 100 block of Skys Limit Court to assist NCSO with the report of an overdose, and to Mary Ball and White Chapel roads for a reckless driver.

May 13: Staff responded to the 100 block of Fiddler Crab Lane for a civil issue, to the 100 block of Little Bay Road for construction fraud, to the 500 block of Goodluck Road for a domestic dispute, to the 18700 block of Mary Ball Road for a disabled vehicle in the roadway, to the 100 block of Chestnut Grove Road for an assault, and to the 900 block of Griffins Landing Road for a wanted person.

May 14: Staff responded to Lara and Field Trial roads for farm animals in the roadway, to the 200 block of Old Fairgrounds Way for a minor vehicle accident on private property,  to the 500 block of North Main Street for a domestic dispute, to Pinckardsville and Crawfords Corner roads for suspicious activity, to the 4400 block of Mary Ball Road for trespassers, to Morattico and River roads for a tree down blocking the roadway, to the 2900 block of Lara Road for an overdose of narcotics, and to the 300 block of King Carter Drive for a two-vehicle traffic crash.

May 15: Staff responded to the 500 block of Yopps Cove Road for a suspicious person, to Monaskon and River roads for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 100 block of Belle Isle Road for the kidnapping of juveniles, to the 100 block of Fox Hill Drive to assist KPD with a gunshot victim, and to the 100 block of Weems Road for suspicious activity.

Staff also conducted nine traffic stops, issued six summonses, assisted two motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled 10 calls for traffic control, investigated two building alarms, logged an inmate transport, received 11 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded three calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash on the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge.

Kilmarnock and White Stone volunteer fire departments responded to a structure fire on Cedar Circle and to a fire/smoke alarm on Muskreek Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against nine individuals.

Felonies

Monterra T. Cottrell, 40, of Heathsville was charged May 9 with grand larceny and assault and battery of a family member. He was served by the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.

Levaughn Laffiama Seldon, 34, of Heathsville was charged May 13 with maliciously shooting into an occupied building, possession of a firearm by a nonviolent felon, reckless handling of a firearm and damaging property.

Shanenon Lee Hawkins, 36, of Heathsville was charged May 13 with two felonies of attempted aggravated murder on law enforcement and two felony counts of failing to stop for law enforcement. He also was charged with five counts of reckless driving. Other charges include driving without a license, fleeing from law enforcement, giving false identification, an illegal u-turn and possession of licenses/decals when not entitled.

Myshaun Tihee Porter, 23, of Burgess was charged May 14 with assault and battery of a family member, third-plus offense.

John A. Jones, 45, of  Wicomico Church was charged May 14 with threatening in writing to do harm and obstruction of justice. These were Lancaster County warrants, served by Northumberland County.

John A. Jones Jr., of Montross was charged May 14 with driving under the influence of alcohol, third offense in five years and driving on a revoked license. He also was issued a summons for failing to stop at a stop sign.

Misdemeanors

A Lottsburg woman, 37, was charged May 9 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Reedville man, 40, was charged May 11 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Weems man, 50, was charged May 15 with two counts of trespassing and a summons was issued for being drunk in public.
