Sheriffs’ reports 07-01-21

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against six individuals.

Felonies

Kionte Richon Walters, 30, of Kilmarnock was charged June 25 with three counts of distribution of a Schedule I or II drug, third-plus offense, and abuse/neglect of a child: Reckless disregard for life.

Michael DeShawn Long, 35, of Heathsville was charged June 26 with two counts of distribution of a Schedule I or II drug, third-plus offense and abuse/neglect of a child: Reckless disregard for life.

Misdemeanors

A Kilmarnock man, 45, was charged June 23 with failure to register as a sex offender, two counts of contempt of court: Failure to appear and failure to appear in court on a misdemeanor offense.

A Heathsville woman, 29, was charged June 23 with failure to pay restitution.

A Kilmarnock man, 58, was charged June 23 with probation violation on a misdemeanor offense.

A White Stone man, 46, was charged June 25 with contempt of court: Failure to appear.

Activity report

June 21: Staff responded to James Wharf Road for bicyclists stopped in the highway on a turn creating a hazard, to Simmons Lane for juveniles on 4-wheelers in the roadway, and to the 500 block of North Main Street to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department with an assault call.

June 22: Staff responded to the 600 block of North Main Street for a suspicious vehicle, to the 100 block of Tartan Lane for a trespasser, to Dilver Avenue to assist the Department of Social Services with a welfare check, to the 1000 block of Oak Hill Road for a suspicious vehicle, to the 900 block of Ring Farm Road for threats made to harm another, to Mary Ball and Pinckardsville roads for a tree down in the roadway, to the Kilmarnock area of Mary Ball Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, and to the 200 block of North Main Street for a bank holdup alarm.

June 23: Staff responded to the 200 block of North Main Street for a bank holdup alarm, and to the 400 block of Greentown Road for a person with an altered mental status.

June 24: Staff responded to the 3200 block of Crawfords Corner Road for the report of disorderly conduct from a person with mental health issues and drug use, to the 100 block of Binnacle Lane for a suspicious person, to the 2900 block of Browns Stone Road to assist the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office investigate gunshots in the area.

June 25: Staff responded to the 100 block of Bagpipe Lane for a trespasser with mental issues, to White Hall and River roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 400 block of Corrotoman Drive for items stolen out of a garage, to the White Stone/Kilmarnock area on Mary Ball Road for three motorcyclists driving at over 100 mph, and to the 600 block of Chesapeake Drive for a large disorderly crowd.

June 26: Staff responded to the 100 block of Bagpipe Lane for a trespasser with mental issues, to the 18300 block of Mary Ball Road for loud music and a reckless motorcyclist, and to the 100 block of Twin Branch Road for a suicidal person with a handgun who had fired multiple shots.

June 27: Staff responded to the 1600 block of Windmill Point Road for a vehicle blocking the roadway.

Staff also conducted five traffic stops, issued one summons, assisted seven motorists, recorded three deer strike accidents, handled a call for traffic control, investigated six building alarms, logged two inmate transports, received 19 E911 hang-up calls and fielded three requests for animal control service.

Fire calls

The White Stone and Kilmarnock volunteer fire departments responded to a structure fire on Morattico Church Road.

The White Stone VFD also responded to a tree fire at Gaskins and Christ Church roads and a power line down on Taylors Creek Road.

The Kilmarnock VFD also responded to the odor of propane on Goodluck Road.
