Sheriffs’ Reports 07-06-23

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felony

Sevin Skykim Noel, 20, of Lottsburg was charged June 27 with killing and murder in the second degree; maliciously shooting with intent to maim, disfigure, disable, or kill; and using, attempting to use, or display in a threatening manner a firearm while committing or attempting to commit murder.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster man, 41, was charged June 26 with assault and battery; and without authority, trespass or remain upon a property after having been forbidden to do so by an authorized individual.

A Cobbs Creek man, 34, was charged June 29 with failing to appear in court; and failing to obey a court ordered support.

A Weems man, 50, was charged June 27 with violating a provision of a family abuse preliminary protective order.

June 26: Staff responded to the 400 block of King Carter Drive to check the welfare of the residents; to the 100 block of Carefree Lane to assist Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office with threats made to harm another, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a verbal dispute, to Shore and Lancaster Creek drives for a gunshot victim lying in the roadway, and to the 6700 block of Mary Ball Road for a large tree blocking the roadway.

June 27: Staff responded to the 200 block of Oyster Way for a downed tree blocking the roadway, to the 600 block of Cherry Point Drive for a downed tree blocking the roadway, to the 8400 block of Courthouse Road for suspicious activity, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 600 block of Johns Neck Road for a domestic assault, and to the 400 block of Lancaster Creek Drive to check the welfare of a resident.

June 28: Staff responded to Irvington Road and Middlegate for suspicious activity, to the 2500 block of Fleets Bay Road for a tree on the power line that was smoking, to the 100 block of Shipyard Lane for obtaining money by false pretense, to Chesapeake Drive for a ladder in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, and to the 100 block of Alfonso Road for gunshots in the late evening hours.

June 29: Staff responded to the 6500 block of Mary Ball Road for suspicious activity, and to the 300 block of Jeffrey Avenue to check the welfare of juveniles after receiving a call about a verbal dispute between two adults.

June 30: Staff responded to the 20600 block of Mary Ball Road for a sudden death, to the 8300 block of Mary Ball Road for funds obtained by false pretense, to the 500 block of Gaskins Road for a wanted person, to the 300 block of Sunset Drive for trespassers, to the Norris Bridge for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, and to the Belle Isle State Park for an intoxicated person refusing to leave the park.

July 1: Staff responded to Rappahannock and Chesapeake drives for a reckless driver, to the 100 block of Peirces Road for a juvenile behavior issue, to the 1900 block of Black Stump Road for threats made to harm another, to the 8200 block of Mary Ball Road to assist emergency medical services (EMS) with the transport of an inmate reporting a medical emergency, and to the 300 block of Dillin Drive for a noise violation from fireworks in the late evening hours.

July 2: Staff responded to Little Bay Road for a noise violation from fireworks in the very early morning hours, to the 800 block of White Chapel Road for the report of a verbal disagreement; to the 100 block of Western Branch Drive for suspicious activity, to the 5100 block of Mary Ball Road to assist EMS with entry into a residence after receiving a report of a medical emergency, to the 4300 block of Irvington Road for suspicious activity, and to a walk-in report of threats made to harm another.

Staff also conducted 20 traffic stops, issued 16 summonses, assisted four motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled two calls for traffic control, investigated four building alarms, received 32 E911 hang up calls, and fielded nine calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to Fleets Bay Road for a tree on a power line, and to East Church Street for a vehicle fire.

White Stone VFD responded to Gordon Drive for an electrical fire.

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to Mulberry Creek Road for a fire/smoke alarm.
