Coffee with a cop

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will host “coffee with a cop” at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at Front Porch Coffeehouse, 139 South Main Street, Kilmarnock.

Members of the public are urged to meet and chat with law enforcement representatives.

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felonies

Jason Thomas Spence, 38, of Lively was charged July 6 with while being a parent, guardian, or a person responsible for the care of a child under the age of 18, causing or permitting serious injury to the life or health of such child by a willful act, omission, or refusal to provide necessary care; willfully or maliciously preventing, obstructing or delaying the sending, conveyance or delivery in the Commonwealth of an authorized communication by or through a wireless transmission device under the control of a telephone or telegraph company doing business in the Commonwealth; and two counts of assault and battery of a family or household member.

Kendra Rochelle Veney, 37, of Lancaster was charged July 8 with willfully and intentionally making a materially false statement on the consent form on a firearm transaction record required by law.

Misdemeanors

An Irvington man, 38, was charged July 4 with intentionally destroying, defacing, or damaging property valued at less than $1,000.

A White Stone man, 73, was charged July 5 with driving or operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

A Kilmarnock man, 35, was charged July 7 with failure to appear in court on a hit and run and reckless driving charge.

A White Stone man, 20, was charged July 8 with pointing, holding or brandishing a firearm, an air or gas operated weapon, or an object similar in appearance in such a manner so as to reasonably induce fear in the mind of another.

A Kilmarnock man, 40, was charged July 9 with failure to appear in court for an arraignment on a shoplifting charge.

Activity report

July 3: Staff responded to Nuttsville and Gaines roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to a stolen pontoon boat that occurred at the 300 block of Shady Lane, to Irvington and White Pine roads for a reckless driver, to the 3100 block of Irvington Road for a downed tree in the roadway, to the 100 block of Lancaster Creek Drive for a downed tree in the roadway, to the 100 block of Westview Lane for a sailing vessel in distress, and to the 200 block of Irvington Road to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance.

July 4: Staff responded to the 5400 block of Mary Ball Road for a child custody dispute, to the 200 block of Burnt Wharf Road for a noise violation from loud music, to the 1100 block of Old Salem Road for destruction of property, and to the 400 block of White Chapel Road for gunshots.

July 5: Staff responded to the 2600 block of Irvington Road for a domestic assault and vandalism, to the 200 block of Golden Tale Lane for a domestic assault, to the 100 block of Chesapeake Drive for vandalism of an advertising sign, and to a walk-in report of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in the 100 block of Scott Road.

July 6: Staff responded to the 2900 block of Browns Store Road to assist Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) with a fight in progress involving firearms, and to a walk-in report of gunshots fired into a dwelling in the 100 block of Buzzards Neck Road.

July 7: Staff responded to the 100 block of Bellows Drive East for an open door on a residence.

July 8: Staff responded to the 100 block of Bobwhite Lane for vandalism of an automobile, to Windmill Point Road for trash falling out of a dump truck into the highway, to the 1300 block of Old Salem Road for threats made to harm another, to the 100 block of Hazel Lane for a wanted person, to the 2600 block of White Chapel Road for illegal use of fireworks, to Slabtown Road for a noise violation from loud music, and to Thomas Landing Road for a noise violation from loud music.

July 9: Staff responded to Lara Road for farm animal in the roadway, to the 900 block of Rappahannock Drive for suspicious activity, to the 200 block of Wishing Well Lane for a domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Irvington Road to assist KPD with a verbal dispute, and to the 200 block of Irvington Road to assist KPD with a domestic assault.

Staff also conducted 17 traffic stops, issued 11 summonses, assisted two motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, handled two calls for traffic control, investigated four building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged two inmate transports, received 31 E911 hang up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash on Nuttsville Road, and a fire/smoke alarm on River Road.

White Stone VFD responded to separate fire/smoke alarms on Yopps Cove and Crab Point roads, and to a downed tree in the roadway on Irvington Road.

Kilmarnock VFD responded to separate traffic crashes on Shiloh School Road and Town Centre Drive, a vehicle fire on Remo Road, and a fire/smoke alarm on North Main Street.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against 15 individuals.

Felonies

Kenneth Leo Muse, 64, of Callao was charged June 22 on a direct indictment issued by the Northumberland County Multi-Jurisdictional Grand Jury for aggravated sexual battery of a victim less than 13 years of age.

Ernest Eugene Adams, 46, of Heathsville was charged July 1 with one count of felony forgery. A summons also was issued for forgery. These were Northumberland County warrants, served by the Kilmarnock Police Department.

Robert Coley Lawson, 22, of Callao was charged July 5 with a capias to show cause why his suspended sentence should not be revoked. He was also charged with fleeing a law enforcement officer. These were Northumberland County charges served by the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office.

Rommel Carino, 29, of Ashburn was charged July 6 with felony credit card larceny and petit larceny. These were Northumberland County warrants served by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Richard James Parker Jr., 32, of Warsaw was charged July 6 with grand larceny of a firearm and possession of a firearm, after being a convicted felon.

Misdemeanors

A Kilmarnock man, 37, was charged June 26 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for having interlock violations.

A Callao woman, 37, was charged June 28 on three counts of petit larceny and one count of assault and battery of a family member. These were Suffolk County warrants served by NCSO.

A Farnham man, 27, was charged June 28 on a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for a probation violation with the original charge of domestic assault and battery and felony abduction.

A Reedville man, 32, was charged June 29 with driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense, and driving without a license. A summons also was issued for being drunk in public.

A Reedville woman, 23, was charged June 29 with being drunk in public.

A Hartfield man, 21, was charged June 30 with damaging property. This was a Northumberland County warrant served by Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.

A White Stone man, 21, was charged July 2 with two counts of interfering with the property rights of others and two counts of petit larceny. He was also charged with damaging property. These were Northumberland County warrants served by the Virginia State Police.

An Aylett man, 52, was charged July 5 on a capias/attachment of the body for failing to appear in the Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for child support. This was a Northumberland County warrant served by Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

A Richmond man, 21, was charged July 6 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to appear on a show cause. This was served by the Henrico County Sheriff’s Office.

A Heathsville woman, 45, was charged July 6 with assault and battery of a family member.
