Sheriffs’ reports 07-22-21

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felonies

William Dennis Thompson, 52, of Lancaster was charged July 12 with assault and battery of a family member, third offense.

Donovan Ramon Gregory, 22, of White Stone was charged July 13 with abduction by force or intimidation, assault and battery of a family member, and obstruction or delay in the sending of a telephone message to summon law enforcement.

Ronald Edward Holmes Jr., 54, of Lancaster was charged July 14 with rape by force or threat and sodomy of a helpless victim or by force. Holmes also was charged with six misdemeanor counts of violating probation on felony offenses.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster man, 72, was charged July 14 with driving while intoxicated.

A Lancaster man, 42, was charged July 12 with two counts of violating probation on felony offenses.

A Kilmarnock man, 30, was charged July 15 with trespassing after being forbidden to do so.

A Weems woman, 38, was charged July 15 with trespassing after being forbidden to do so.

Activity report

July 12: Staff responded to the 300 block of Callis Road for debris being thrown on a neighbor’s property, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 11000 block of River Road for a domestic assault, to the 200 block of Greenvale Creek Road to check the welfare of a resident, to a walk-in report of trespassing that occurred at the 300 block of Christ Church Road, and to the 1900 block of Taylors Creek Road for a suspicious person.

July 13: Staff responded to the 2800 block of White Chapel Road for destruction of property, to the 200 block of Waterview Point Lane for trespassing, to the 300 block of Chesapeake Drive for vandalism, to the 300 block of Pine Trail to check the welfare of a resident after being alerted by a postal carrier, to a walk-in report of money obtained by false pretense, and to the 100 block of Alfonso Road for a sudden death.

July 14: Staff responded to River and Ottoman Ferry roads for a downed tree in the highway, and to the 100 block of Oak Leaf Drive for obtaining money under false pretense.

July 15: Staff responded to the 1300 block of Iberis Road for a downed tree blocking the roadway, to Mary Ball and Kamps Mill roads for a suspicious person, to James Wharf and Newtown roads for a person with an altered mental status, to the 200 block of Shore Drive for a suicidal person, and to the 100 block of Waterview Point Lane for a suspicious person.

July 16: Staff responded to the e 500 block of Lara Road for suspicious activity, to the Norris Bridge for debris in the roadway, to Cedar Pointe Drive for a truck parked in the roadway, and to the 100 block of Joyful Way for threats made to harm another.

July 17: Staff responded to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for several persons loitering at a business after hours, to the 18600 block of Mary Ball Road for vandalism, to the 9500 block of Courthouse Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash; to Mary Ball and Dodson roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 5700 block of Irvington Road to check the welfare of a female pedestrian after being alerted by a passing motorist, to the 3200 block of Crawfords Corner Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the Norris Bridge to assist another law enforcement agency with the report of a boater in distress.

July 18: Staff responded to the 400 block of Twin Branch Road for a prowler; and to the 400 block of South Main Street for an assault.

Staff also conducted nine traffic stops, issued four summons, assisted four motorists, recorded three deer strike accidents, investigated seven building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged three inmate transports, received 16 E911 hang-up calls and fielded four calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock and White Stone volunteer fire departments responded to a brush fire on Black Stump road.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a lift assistance request on School Street,

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a traffic crash on Courthouse Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against nine individuals.

Felonies

James E. Brown, 48, of Warsaw was charged July 2 with a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to comply with the conditions of his suspension by failing to be of peace and good behavior. Brown was served by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO).

Jonathan Rydell Merrill, 33, of Reedville was charged July 9 with attempted murder, two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, four counts of malicious wounding and two counts of malicious shooting at an occupied vehicle. He also was charged with three counts of attempted malicious shooting and four counts of possession of a firearm after being convicted as a violent felon. Along with those charges, there was a charge of grand larceny, petit larceny, third-plus offense, shooting in a public place and brandishing/pointing a firearm.

Merrill also was charged with two capias to show cause issued by the Westmoreland County Circuit Court and served a capias attachment of the body issued by the Richmond County General District Court for failing to appear in their court for petit larceny and shoplifting. These were served by the Northumberland County Circuit Court.

Hunter Christian Williams, 36, of Reedville was charged July 10 with a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to comply with the terms of his probation by committing a major violation. He was served by the RCSO.

Adam Brice Freeman-Jones, 21, of Deltaville was charged July 11 with a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for violating the conditions of his probation. He was served by the RCSO.

Codey Nathaniel Phipps, 19, of Kinsale was charged July 11 with a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for violating  the conditions of his probation. He was served by the RCSO.

Misdemeanors

A Reedville man, 56, was charged July 7 with a capias attachment of the body issued by the Gloucester County General District Court for failing to comply with VASAP.

A Heathsville man, 41, was charged July 11 on an extradition warrant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

A Burgess woman, 29, was charged July 11 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Reedville man, 32, was charged July 11 with assault and battery of a family member.
