Sheriffs’ Reports 08-04-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against two individuals.

A Lancaster man, 39, was charged July 30 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Lancaster woman, 31, was charged July 30 with appearing intoxicated in public.

Activity report

July 25: Staff responded to the 100 block of Joyful Way for a domestic disturbance, to the 11200 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for a possible plane crash, to the 2600 block of Morattico Road for trees down in the roadway, and to the 5000 block of Devils Bottom Road for a wanted person

July 26: Staff responded to the 8300 block of Mary Ball Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 400 block of Rappahannock Drive for juvenile behavior issues, to the 100 block of Clover Lane to check the welfare of a resident, and to a walk-in report of threats to harm another.

July 27: Staff responded to Mary Ball and River roads for a tree down in the roadway, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a possible suicidal person, to Courthouse and Davis Mill roads for a tree down in the roadway, to the Norris Bridge for a disabled vehicle causing a traffic hazard, and to the 400 block of Twin Branch Road for a fight in progress.

July 28: Staff responded to the 600 block of Chesapeake Drive for suspicious activity, to the 8600 block of Mary Ball Road for a hit and run traffic crash, and to the 100 block of Chase Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department with suspicious activity.

July 29: Staff responded to the 2900 block of Merry Point Road for vandalism of a commercial building, to the 700 block of Rappahannock Drive for a disabled vehicle causing a traffic hazard; to the 100 block of Woodbrook Drive to check the welfare of a resident; Blueberry Point Road for a tree hanging over the road looking ready to fall; to the 400 block of King Carter Drive for a verbal disagreement, to the 4000 block of Black Stump Road for a downed tree blocking all lanes of travel, and to the 100 block of Reynolds Farm Road for a domestic assault.

July 30: Staff responded to Jessie duPont Memorial Highway and Goodluck Road for a disabled vehicle causing a traffic hazard, to the 10400 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for a possible intoxicated driver, to the 400 block of Lovers Lane for several possible explosions, and to the 18400 block of Mary Ball Road for a verbal disagreement involving alcohol.

July 31: Staff responded to the 100 block of Muirfield Court for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Peach Tree Lane for a wanted person, and to Creek Landing Road to assist Virginia state Police with the arrest of two wanted individuals.

Staff also conducted 23 traffic stops, issued 16 summonses, assisted a motorist, recorded two deer strike accidents, investigated 10 building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged an inmate transport, received 18 E911 hang up calls, and fielded three calls for animal control.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to separate lift assistance requests on Buzzards Neck and Mary Point roads, a brush fire on Mary Ball Road, and with Kilmarnock VFD to a brush fire on Devils Bottom Road.

White Stone VFD responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Windfall Lane and a vehicle crash into a structure on Muirfield Court.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against five individuals.

Felonies

Dere’Onta Juantice Redmond, 21, of Heathsville was charged July 27 on a direct indictment issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court on six charges of malicious wounding.

Brian David Geronimo, 33, of Warsaw was charged July 27 on a direct indictment issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for one count of grand larceny. This was served by Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.

Misdemeanors

A Reedville man, 49, was charged July 27 with maiming/killing an animal.

A Reedville woman, 49, was charged July 27 with four counts of shoplifting from March 29 through April 19, at the Walmart in Kilmarnock.

A Lottsburg man, 24, was charged July 30 with assault and battery of a family member.
