Sheriffs’ Reports 08-15-24

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against three individuals.

A Lancaster man, 29, was charged July 31 with use of profane, threatening or indecent language over public airways or by other methods; and intentionally destroying, defacing or damaging a vehicle with the value of such property being less than $1,000.

A Lancaster man, 18, was charged August 5 with recklessly handling a firearm as to endanger life, limb or property; while being 18 or older, willfully contributing to, encouraging or causing any act or omission or condition which rendered a child under 18 delinquent in need of services, in need of supervision, abused or neglected; and pointing, holding or brandishing firearm, air or gas operated weapon in a manner as to reasonably induce fear in the mind of another.

A Lancaster man, 32, was charged August 11 with assault and battery; and intentionally destroying, defacing or damaging a vehicle with the value of such property being less than $1,000.

August 5: Staff responded to the 1600 nlock of Irvington Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 4000 block of Mary Ball Road for legal advice, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for fraud, to the 4000 block of Mary Ball Road for trespassing, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for threats, to the 400 block of Rappahannock Drive for a suspicious person, and to the 700 block of Middle Gate for fraud.

August 6: Staff responded to Devils Bottom Road for a downed tree, to the 700 block of River Road for a suspicious vehicle, to the 100 block of Entertainment Drive for an unruly customer, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a scam, to the 5000 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious vehicle, and to the 10 block of Washington Street for a suspicious vehicle.

August 7: Staff responded to Devils Bottom Road for a downed tree, to Mary Ball and Pinckardsville roads for a disabled vehicle, to Nuttsville and Gaines roads for a larceny, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious person, to the 10000 block of River Road for a verbal dispute, to the 200 block of Saltwater Drive for an adult welfare check, to the 400 block of Senora Road for an adult welfare check, to the 30 block of Brent Court for a domestic disturbance, and to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a verbal disagreement.

August 8: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a disabled vehicle, to the 30 block of Lively Oaks Road for threats, to the 50 block of Meadowview Lane for destruction of property, to the 400 block of Twin Branch Road for a verbal dispute, to the 600 block of Ocran Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 200 block of Pond Park Road for a verbal disagreement, to the 100 block of Merry Point Road for suspicious activity, and to the 10000 block of River Road for a suspicious vehicle.

August 9: Staff responded to the 200 block of School Street for a suspicious person, to Cherry Point Drive for a downed tree, to Thomas Landing Road for a downed tree, to the 100 block of Entertainment Drive for threats, and to Crawfords Corner and Pinckardsville roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

August 10: Staff responded to the 300 block of Edgewater Lane for destruction of property, to Christ Church and Irvington roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 50 block of Park Place for trespassing, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for stalking, to the 90 block of Park Creek Lane for a verbal dispute, and to the 400 block of Levelgreen Road for threats.

August 11: Staff responded to the 100 block of White Chapel Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 200 block of Buzzards Neck Road for a verbal disagreement, to the 11000 block of Mary Ball Road for a reckless driver, to the 3000 block of Weems Road for a larceny, to Norris Bridge for a disabled vehicle, to the 700 block of Greenvale Road for a verbal dispute, to the 800 block of Rappahannock Drive for a reckless driver, to the 80 block of Kingfisher Circle for a domestic disturbance, and to the 4000 block of White Chapel Road for an adult welfare check.

Staff also conducted nine traffic stops, issued six summonses, recorded a deer strike accident, handled a request for traffic control, investigated three building alarms, processed two mental health orders, logged an inmate transport, received 11 E911 hang up calls, and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire Calls

The White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash at Church and Irvington roads.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against 15 individuals.

Felonies

James Howard Slater Jr., 22, of Reedville was charged July 29 on a direct indictment issued by the Lancaster County Circuit Court on original charges of hit and run, without reporting an accident and reckless driving.

William Cornelius Crockett, 50, of Lancaster was charged August 1 on a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to appear on a felony charge. He was served by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO).

James Aubrey Brown IV, 48, of Champlain was charged August 9 on a capias issued by the Northumberland County Multi-Jurisdictional Grand Jury on four counts of distribution/sell for profit a Schedule I/II drug.

Nathaniel Thomas Long, 24, of Reedville was charged August 10 with strangulation and assault and battery of a family member.

Misdemeanors

A Reedville man, 30, was charged July 29 with violating a protective order.

A Callao man, no age given, was charged July 30 with intentionally destroying property of another.

A Heathsville man, 72, was charged July 31 with assault and battery.

A Reedville man, 47, was charged August 3 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the King and Queen General District Court for failing to appear in their court. He was served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Chesterfield man, 28, was charged August 4 with being drunk in public.

A Burgess man, 46, was charged August 5 with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A Reedville man, 67, was charged August 6 with being drunk in public.

A Reedville man, 86, was charged August 9 with stalking.

A Reedville man, 28, was charged August 11 with criminal trespassing.

A Heathsville man, 32, was charged August 11 with assault and battery and damaging property. These were Northumberland County warrants served by LCSO.

A Heathsville woman, 39, was charged August 11 with driving under the influence of alcohol. She also was issued two summonses for no seat belt and failing to drive on the right side of the road.
