Sheriffs ‘ Reports 09-29-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against four individuals.

A Henderson, N.C., man, 32, was charged September 20 with contempt of court: failure to appear.

A Lancaster woman, 34, was charged September 21 with contempt of court, failure to appear.

A White Stone man, 54, was charged September 21 with intentionally damaging property valued at less than $1000, brandishing/pointing a firearm at another, and assault and battery of a family member.

A Saluda man, 57, was charged September 22 with contempt of court: failure to appear, and violation of a community-based probation on a misdemeanor offense.

Activity report

September 19: Staff responded to James B. Jones Memorial Highway for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 600 block of Crawfords Corner Road for a missing juvenile, to Bertrand Place for a suspicious vehicle, to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for identity theft and obtaining funds by false pretense, to the 300 block of Weems Road for drug activity, to Main Street in Kilmarnock for a truck with an unsecured load, to Bluff Point Road and Clifton Landing Lane for a downed tree in the roadway, and to the 5400 block of Irvington Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash.

September 20: Staff responded to the 7800 block of River Road for a suspicious vehicle, to a walk-in report of destruction of property and assault that occurred at the 300 block of Woods Drive, and to the 100 block of Washington Street for a verbal disagreement involving alcohol.

September 21: Staff responded to the 1000 block of Griffins Landing to check the welfare of a resident, to the 5700 block of White Chapel Road to assist emergency medical services (EMS) with entry into the residence after receiving a call for medical attention, and to the 7800 block of River Road for a suspicious person.

September 22: Staff responded to the 100 block of Harris Road for a wanted person, to the 1500 block of Waverly Avenue for a suspicious vehicle; and to the 400 block of Twin Branch Road for a domestic dispute involving alcohol.

September 23: Staff responded to a walk-in report of construction fraud, to the 100 block of Washington Street for a domestic disturbance, to the 700 block of Belmont Creek Road for suspicious activity, to the 100 block of Wesley Terrace for a verbal disagreement, to Grace Hill Circle for gunshots in the late evening hours, and to the 100 block of Doggett Lane for suspicious activity.

September 24: Staff responded to the 200 block of Flats Lane for a missing adult, to Christ Church and Weems roads for possible illegal dumping, to the 100 block of Corner Oak Circle for two motorcycles riding in the area of without mufflers, to the 200 block of Flats Lane to check the welfare of a resident, and to the 100 block of Greenwood Court for a suspicious vehicle.

September 25: Staff responded to the 200 block of Johns Neck Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 1200 block of Goodluck Road for suspicious activity, and to Mary Ball Road between Lancaster and Lively for a motorcyclist driving recklessly.

Correction: On August 20, it was reported that deputies responded, as well as EMS, to the 1400 block of Avis Trail for a domestic assault with serious injury. The patient/victim of this call for service has reported the need for attention was pain from a medical issue caused by extensive drug use the day before and an assault was not involved.

Staff also conducted 16 traffic stops, issued 12 summonses, assisted three motorists, handled 10 calls for traffic control, investigated seven building alarms, logged two inmate transports, received six E911 hang up calls and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash on Irvington Road, downed power lines on Blueberry Point Road, a controlled burn on Mary Ball and James Wharf roads, a truck fire at Rappahannock and Chesapeake drives and with Kilmarnock VFD to a structure fire on Ditchley Road.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a lift assistance request on Wesley Terrace and a fire/smoke alarm on McSwain Road.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a dirt bike fire on Merry Point Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against five individuals.

Felonies

Steve Colton Bull, 35, of Kilmarnock was charged September 19 with a failing to perform construction after an advance was given. This was a New Kent warrant served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO).

Clifton A. Baldwin III, 52, of Burgess was charged September 22 with assault and battery of a law enforcement officer and two counts of obstruction of justice.

Monterra T. Cottrell, 40, of Heathsville was charged September 22 with three counts of forgery of checks, obtaining money by false pretenses and one count of petit larceny. These were Lancaster warrants served by the NCSO.

Misdemeanors

A Farnham man, 47, was charged September 19 with a capias/attachment of the body issued from the Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to appear in their court. He was arrested by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

A Callao man, 34, was charged September 23 with a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Richmond County General District Court for violation of pre-trial services.
